This Memorial Day, we honor the brave servicemen and women and their families who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country’s freedom and liberties.

In Illinois, we are paying tribute to the courage of past servicemen and women who never returned home by designating the third Friday of September each year as POW and MIA Recognition Day. They gave up their lives keeping their country safe, and deserve remembrance for that sacrifice. 🇺🇸

With growing threats to our water sources locally and nationally, it’s imperative that we have all the information to rightly defend our communities.

That’s why I’m proud to have passed SB 3917, which requires testing for PFAS with the issuanceof any wastewatewater treatment permits. This legislation will fill informational gaps that our state has about the “forever chemicals” PFAS, better equipping communities with the necessary information to advise future decision-making.

In a devastating decision today, the United States Supreme Court issued a decision that will significantly dismantle the protections of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Last week in Springfield, I was proud to take a vote that begins the process to enshrine voting rights in our Illinois constitution.

I will continue to fight for every person to have equal and fair voting representation in our state.

⚡️HB 4456 is a measure to ease the burden of rising utility costs on families. This bill increases the income eligibility for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), to allow for more families to receive vital assistance.

As we continue to see rising costs across the board, this is one way that we’re giving breathing room to families who are working hard to keep the lights on. This bill has passed committee and moved to the House floor.
