Thank you for joining us for Office Hours #3! If you missed our previous sessions, no worries! You do not need prior certifications to get started. The process is relatively easy but we have a few tips to help you navigate.

WHAT WE DID
✅ Registered on the DGS Cal eProcure Portal

ICYMI: May Share & Solve Recap

Missed this month’s roundtable? We got into one of the most personal topics yet, whether owners are actually paying themselves, and what to do when the answer is no. Huge thank you to everyone who showed up and kept it real. Because this topic resonated so deeply, we are planning a dedicated Table Talk session to dive even deeper into how to pay yourself effectively. Keep an eye out for that announcement coming soon.

Swipe through for the top takeaways:
💰 Owner Pay: Multiple members have gone six to ten years without a paycheck. The trap is waiting for a surplus that never comes.
🏦 Know Your Structure: Many independent owners have no guaranteed paycheck and can only take money out when the business has something to spare. Members explored how business structure affects your ability to pay yourself consistently.
✅ Small Moves That Add Up: From monthly set amounts to 401K rollovers to biweekly partner draws, members shared the small intentional habits that are actually working.
⚖️ ADA Lawsuits: Predatory legal groups are still actively targeting restaurant websites for missing Alt Text. Even after fixing issues once, a single overlooked image was enough to trigger a second lawsuit for one member.

Up Next: June 9
Our next Share & Solve session breaks down the critical takeaways from the June 3rd @indprestaurants call. With the World Cup approaching, many of you are evaluating auto-gratuity to manage the surge. However, there is a major tax distinction between service charges and gratuities that you must understand before making any changes. Join us to ensure your structure is compliant and audit-ready. Then we open it up to you!

Think of your absolute favorite neighborhood restaurant. The one you'd be devastated to lose.

Now imagine it closing — not because the food wasn't good or the owner didn't work hard enough, but because the system was never built to support her.

Women run 54% of the food workforce and receive less than 3% of available support. Women-owned businesses are 40% more likely to close during economic disruptions. The 1,400 members of @regardingher are fighting those odds every single day.

Right now, 5 riders are biking 75 miles through Champagne, France with one goal — to force this conversation into the open and raise $100,000 for the women running our local economies back home.

This isn't a vacation. It's a moving billboard for the women who deserve better.

$75K raised. $25K left to go. Every dollar goes directly to RegardingHer— so your donation has a 1:1 impact.

Tap the link in bio to help us cross the finish line. 🚴‍♀️

What happens when chefs trade their kitchens for bicycles?

Beppe joined three acclaimed chefs - stepping in for @cheffalkner - for a 200 km ride through Champagne in support of a cause close to our hearts.

Independent restaurants are the soul of our communities, yet many face an uphill battle. Women make up 54% of the food industry workforce but receive less than 3% of available business support. That’s where Regarding Her comes in—helping women-owned food businesses not only survive, but thrive.

Together, the ride set out to raise $100,000 to support grants, mentorship, and resources for women entrepreneurs in hospitality. We’re now just $25,000 away from reaching that goal.

If you’ve ever had a meal that changed your day, made a memory, or connected you to a place, you already understand why this matters.

Tap the link in our stories and help us cross the finish line. 🚴‍♂️❤️🍽️

Let’s be honest: are you even on your own payroll? 💸

We know the reality because we are living it. For most of us, the business comes first and our own paychecks come last (if at all). This month’s Share and Solve is an off the record, owners only session to pull back the curtain on founder pay. No filters and no judgment. We are talking about how we make it work, how to prioritize our worth, and what to do when the numbers just aren’t there.

Then, we open the floor to YOU. What wins are we celebrating this month? What is keeping you up at night? Let’s figure it out together. 💥

👥 Hiring Smarter: How to use AI to track and evaluate GM candidates against your job description quickly and objectively.
🏛️ CA Certification: Why one investor living outside California can cost you your state certification and what to do about it.

Up Next: May 12
Our next Share & Solve will focus on whether you’re actually paying yourself as an owner. This one hits differently when you’re the boss. Bring your questions and we will open the floor to you. See you there!

We’re back. 📋✨

Tuesday, April 28, we’re jumping back on Zoom to activate our LA County accounts and kick off the RAMP LA certification process.

If your business isn’t in these databases, the people handing out the biggest contracts in Los Angeles simply can’t find you. That’s what we’re here to fix.

WHAT WE ARE COVERING
✨ Register on the County Certification Portal
You now have everything you need to create your account. The portal is your central hub for managing all your certifications going forward.
✨ Set up your County Vendor Profile
Once you’re in, we’ll complete your business profile so agencies and buyers can find and verify your information.
✨ Apply for Women Business Enterprise (WBE) Certification
We’ll walk through submitting your WBE certification request — an important designation that recognizes your business as women-owned and expands your contracting opportunities.
✨ RAMPLA Registration
We will review how to get your business onto the City registration system so you show up when agencies are ready to hire.
