For everyone who thinks that bobs are boring, let Camila Mendes at the LA premiere of her new film, the much-anticipated, “Masters of the Universe” (@mastersmovie), serve as an example that that’s simply not true. 👈 Mendes has been rocking a bob for a minute (see the Met Gala a few weeks back) but this look was shorter and more retro-inspired — with an exaggerated shape that was impossible to miss.

Editorial and celebrity hairstylist Lauren Palmer-Smith (@laurenpalmersmith) was responsible for both of these recent looks, so, naturally, we got in touch.

Palmer-Smith says, “For this LA premiere of ‘Masters of the universe,’ we wanted to lean into a bit of that late 80s early 90s glamour. To keep on theme of the period of when ‘Masters of the Universe’ was very popular. But I wanted to keep it in an old Hollywood, very LA premiere style.” She made sure to mention that although she created the red carpet style, Mendes’ “beautiful warm bronze brown hair color” was done by Matt Rez (@colorbymattrez), and the bob haircut was done by Buddy Porter (@buddywporter).
