Hi from Rainbow Riders 🚴‍♂️

We loved riding with you all through 2025, and we’re busy planning even more adventures for 2026, you’ve probably seen lots of rides published this week.

To help keep things rolling, we’ve set up a few simple “buy us a coffee” links. If you’ve enjoyed rides or socials with us and fancy chucking a little support our way, we’d really appreciate it. You can click the link for specific amount or use our details to donate an amount you want.

Every pound goes straight back into the group to help us cover things like insurance, Pride rides, trip deposits, and supporting new riders to get involved.

No pressure at all, just come along and ride as always. But if you do feel like contributing, thank you, it will genuinely make a difference.

We know that the recent news and media coverage around transgender rights can feel exhausting and deeply disheartening—especially for our transgender and gender-diverse friends and members.

We want to make it clear: we have always, and will always, stand with the trans+ community.

As an LGBTQ+ cycling club and allyship-driven space, Rainbow Riders is built on respect, inclusion, and pride in authenticity. Everyone who rides with us is valued, celebrated, and seen for who they truly are—whether that’s as a man, woman, or nonbinary person.

Cycling is for everyone. It’s not just a sport—it’s a path to joy, health, and community. And nobody should be made to feel excluded from that.

We see you. We support you. You belong.

We’ve packed June full of LGBTQ+ cycle rides and socials across Greater Manchester, from chilled coffee rides and ice cream spins to longer adventures, sunset rides and community hangouts.

Whether you’re a regular rider, brand new to cycling, or just looking to meet more LGBTQ+ people in a relaxed and welcoming space, you’re invited.

No racing, no pressure, no need to “keep up”. Just good people, good vibes, and bikes. 💖

Now the dust has settled from the amazing Station South Cycle Fest at the weekend, we can share the picture and the joym with just a little bit of rain.

Can't wait to see you all at Pride on the Range, the annual celebration of LGBTQ life in Whalley range, sat 23rd.

Hello! I’m Richard (He/Him). And I'm the unicycle guy.

My appointment as Secretary for the Rainbow Riders is a first for me. As I’ve never done anything quite like this, and I'm firmly on record as not wanting bureaucracy to interfere with having a good time with friends.
I’ll often admit “I don’t know”, which is a great place to start learning. So while learning as I go, I aim to put myself out there for members and riders to approach with praise, suggestions, comments, and criticism. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.

I took a protracted break from cycling after a car accident as a teenager. I never really felt that I had the confidence or skill since. Until just a few years ago, my father happened across a unicycle amongst the donations for a charity he worked for. So, I took it upon myself to learn. While it’s true, you can never forget how to ride a bicycle, you can unlearn. After learning the unicycle, I'm all manner of fingers and thumbs with two wheels.

I don’t necessarily go out of my way to make a fool of myself, it just kind of keeps happening to me. You can regularly catch me around the Manchester area (and sometimes farther afield), with my trusty steed Roadrunner. Armed only with my lack of brakes and my new found “keeping it wiggly” attitude, I’ve fallen back in love with cycling.

Unicycling that is.

Two wheels is still stoopid.
