FRIDAY MAY 15 from 5-9!!!! Shuffle on down to @huntartgallery in downtown Buffalo to celebrate the opening reception of "IX" a collection of artworks produced by myself and the 5 other EXCEPTIONAL artists of @huntresidencies 9th residency cohort.

Over the last 6 months, we have been hard at work, pushing ourselves and each other to experiment, express, and create-and we hope to share what we have been working on with you all!

So come on down from 9-5 on FRIDAY MAY 15 at the Brisbane building in downtown buffalo. There will be snacks, drinks, and ART. You WONT want to miss this once in a lifetime show.

WHAT IS UP EVERYBODY!!! Im Quincy and im a designer, woodworker, and artist living and working in Buffalo NY. Since October of last year, Ive been a resident artist at @huntartgallery as part of their 9th residency cohort. This 6 month residency provides studio space as well as regular get togethers where we meet and hear from various artists and art organizations in and around the WNY region. Its been super inspiring to connect with all of these players in Buffalos art universe, and sharing that alongside the other exceptional artists in this cohort has only added to the value of this experience.

I work primarily in wood, and much of that work involves the use of a wood lathe. Normally, we use a lathe to make things like baseball bats, wooden bowls, and stair spindles, but in my recent practice, I have been using it as a drawing tool.

The machine I work on is a 100+ year old, 3000 lb patternmakers lathe. I can attach flat work to the huge wooden faceplate on the outboard end of this machine and through multiple stages of carving, applying paints and finishes, and then carving again, im able to produce 3 dimensional geometric patterns that I use as a basis for expression and experimentation.

The best piece of advice I got before starting this program was to soak it all in because it goes by faster than you think, and that has really held true. We're about a month or so away from our final show which is FRIDAY MAY 15th!! Mark your calendars, come out, and support local buffalo arts and artists, this is a show you WONT want to miss!
