Itโs a scorcher today! โ๏ธ๐ฅต
So glad we started the day bright and early with a lovely shaded walk at Lydeard Hill listening to the Cuckooโs ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ค
Lydeard Hill is the gateway to the southern hilltops of the Quantock Hills. The views are some of the best in the hills with huge vistas across the Vale of Taunton to the Blackdown Hills and into Devon. From the car park there are many tracks from which you can explore the more open rugged uplands with Lydeard Hill being one of the main starting points for those that want to go to Wills Neck, the highest point in the Quantock Hills at 386m.
There are lots of lovely shaded areas to walk too, under the trees to keep everyone cool in the sunshine ๐๐๐ถ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ถ๐ป
For more details on a variety of walks to explore around the Quantock Hills visit our website, find the link in our bio ๐๐ป๐

The Quantock Hills are a beautiful place to be in this lovely sunshine, but please remember that BBQ's and fires are NOT PERMITTED anywhere on the Quantock Hills โ๐ฅ
Never light a BBQ or fire and always take all of your litter home with you after your visit!
Having a picnic is a great way to enjoy nature and the countryside whilst making some great memories (remember to take plenty to drink and stay hydrated) ๐ฅ๐ฅช ๐
Help us to keep the Quantock Hills safe for everyone including the animals and wildlife who call the hills their home ๐

The initiative is part of #mentalhealthawarenessweek with @mentalhealthfoundation and greenery outdoors at this time of year is a great way to get connected with your mental health.
We're looking at the many ways we've worn green across our landscape, from countryside to communities, green is all around us. We encourage you to get into some green today wherever you are on the Quantock Hills. ๐

New Study Finds Pesticides in 100% of UK Garden Birds Tested... ๐๐ฆ
Many of us apply flea and tick treatments to our dogs and cats every month without thinking twice about whatโs in them. Sadly, some of these products contain pesticides so toxic theyโre banned from agricultural use ๐ฐ
New research funded by @songbirdsurvival and published by the @sussexuni has found these chemicals in bird feathers, eggs and chicks. The study detected pesticides in five familiar garden birds including blackbirds, blue tits, chaffinches, dunnocks and goldfinches. Even more concerning, a second study showed the pesticides can pass from furโlined nests to young birds, with traces found in dead chicks and unhatched eggs ๐
