where there is change there will be chaos. 

my name has always been a subject for discussion; a very european, or "white", name adorned to a dark skinned teen who would eventually grow into a man. the juxtaposition and underlying social commentary were a powerful tool. even as a teen, i understood and was aware of racism in a very real way.  whether experienced or cautioned against, it shaped how i viewed the world. 

the moniker chester started off as a way for mëë to protect myself and mask my identity but i did not want to hide. i wanted to be seen, and saw i was; heard i am.

i was recently faced with the truth that i was taught & conditioned to code switch; whether by nature or nurture is for the cosmos to decide. i saw it in my mother, who i can only say that i am a true reflection of. she is a gemini and i am a pisces. we both inherently possess the natural ability & sense of duality. 

i showed her this song with her being recorded unknowingly but naturally with my tp-7 and she is happy that i have started to record her honestly. our conversation made mëë realize that these code switches are inherent to the black diaspora, whether inherent or taught. 

another conversation with my brother vash illuminated a similar truth, in a... different way. i'm paraphrasing but he said ".. i try to tell people even though you can be a very spiritual and conscience person, you are still a nigga and we have very nigga conversations" and he meant that in the most sincere and honest way possible haha 
but it showed mëë that my music has always been the polished side of mëë.

i say all of this to reintroduce myself to y'all as monti. if yoü see mëë and call mëë chester, i will love yoü because yoü know mëë all the same. 
i will be creating and introducing something purely of my own soon that i hope y'all enjoy and resonate with just as much
