Hey all!!! Been a downright negligent social media citizen these last several years, but I’m kinda tired of being a digital hermit, so here’s a lazy reel post of archived stories and recents from the last couple of years! It’s kinda funny that we went from singing along to Weezer to kicking off the KILBY BLOCK PARTY this year and having an AMAZING TIME getting to see them live, and DEVO, Yo La Tengo, New Order, Gang of Four…to name a FEW!!!! Truly was an amazing experience and a killer opportunity to be part of a festival that gave me the chills AND all the heart kicks I could ever hope for!!! (Appreciation post coming soon!!!)!!! The “we” of course is @levelor_band and we’re currently AS I POST THIS, working on a single to drop so keep your ears peeled!!!! Featured alongside 2 other shorts adapted from Edgar Allan Poe stories under the title “L’Histoires Extrordinaires” aka “Spirits of the Dead”, it first enchanted me when I was 14 and a freshman in high school…I was so passionate about it afterwards, that I promptly deemed it my favorite movie of all time, solely based on emotional reaction…but hey, SOMETHING needed to usurp Gregg Araki’s “Nowhere” in the annals of my pre-adolescent declarations of cinematic adoration! 🤣 I present this now because I recently discovered that Marina Yaru’s character was the source of a mannerism I have—I look down and shake my head whenever I post a story of myself if I start feeling way frivolous and awkward— Here’s to nostalgic unconscious fibers of cultural identity that give us reprieve and thereby push us through small instances which, however momentarily, mirror some semblance of insecurity/fear we felt before becoming who we are, and to those that will see us through when we are who we will be!!!!! #allegory #self #synthesis#alphabetofdesire #nox #lux #fellini #tobydammit #spiritsofthedead
