We've been making lots of things shiny and black this week! They'll all get put together tomorrow to make one massive shiny black thing.

We've recently been working on parts of 'L' Is For Landscape with @gavin_wade_ . It has new wood wool panels machined with maps of 3 parts of Birmingham and some new pine and oak legs, posts and a slatted wall. These are combined with parts of @eprjcts existing mobile wall system to form a new display structure that will be showing works by a huge list of exciting artists.

It opens tonight at @division_of_labour (see theirs or Gavin's posts for the details)

It's all got a bit traditional in the workshop recently. Lap joints, mortice and tenons, leaded windows.

Sometimes we make whole elaborate things with meaning and artistic purpose. Other times we make components for others like these which will soon have a base and a fancy top and will keep you neatly in a queue at a designer shopping village.

It's nice to do both and a whole host of other things somewhere between the two.

We designed and installed these free standing frame structures for some stained glass at The Midlands Metropolitan Hospital this week. The glass was reclaimed from the mortuary chapel at the, now closed, City Hospital.

With over 400kg of ballast in each there were a lot of long trips from the goods yard, while dodging the robots using the lifts. Yes they've got robots!

The blankets are covering the space left by the 3 covers that need a little amendment to fit.

The BBC have been following the restoration of the glass by @arkstainedglass so came to film the install.
