Thought it would be a good idea to do a little re-introduction for anyone who’s followed me in the past year 👀
I’m hoping a week of getting myself back into a work routine will help me to start thinking of some new ideas and things I want to make this year… let me know if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
Also, if there’s anything I haven’t included here that you’d like to know, ask me in the comments!👇I’m never sure what’s interesting and what’s not with these things 😅
Thanks so much for being here 💚

Three things I do when I’m struggling with creative block 🔨
1. Try experimenting with a different media 🖍️
I often find I struggle with creative block after a period of time working in one specific way (e.g. a lot of drawing on Procreate), I decided to try collage last year as a way to give myself a break and use my brain in a different way in between digital work and have found it really helpful
2. Take a literal step back from what you’re doing 🌳
Unfortunately it’s not always possible to take a proper break from your work, but even just a short time away from your work space into a different environment, closing your sketchbook for a while, or taking 5 minutes outside it enough to give your brain a little re-fresh and a chance to see something new that might spark some inspiration
3. Try and keep a to-do list so you can switch between tasks 📋
I’ve always got a long list of jobs I need to do, or organisational things that could help me work better. So if I’m struggling to do some drawing work, I can do something else like prepping and packing prints or cards, doing admin, filming some content, or something else that will still be helpful while giving the creative part of my brain a break
I hope these might be helpful to you! What are some things you’ve found helpful when struggling with creative block? 👇

If I ever need help putting things into perspective, or something to calm my brain, the first thing I do is just spend a minute looking out into the garden from the kitchen window
Right now I’m watching the leaves on the trees and shrubs bounce as they’re hit by the falling rain, sometimes it’s watching the light and shadows change as the branches are blown in the wind, or following the birds on their path as they fly between the trees
There’s something meditative about it that stops me becoming overwhelmed if I feel like I’m getting to that point
I’ve also just finished Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, which I highly recommend to anyone interested in reading about nurturing our connection with nature!

Posting anything on here often feels like just throwing things into the void 👀 it can be super un motivating at times, especially after spending time making content specially for social media, but you never know who you’re actually reaching and where that will lead
There have been so many times that I’ve seen a piece of work that makes me smile, or someone so passionate about their work that it inspires me, so keep sharing your creativity 🌟 we need it!

Embroidered cotton tote bags! 🌟 These were a product I released maybe 2/3 years ago, I made a bunch of each of six original designs and pretty much let the stock run out of each one without re-making any (not sure why!), but I’ve now re-released the two bestsellers from that original collection as well as releasing a new design 🌸
I’d never tried embroidery on a larger scale before, but I really like the result, so I’m thinking of some other designs similar to the moon and stars which could turn it into a little collection, let me know if you have any suggestions! 🌱
