How a dead pair of Palestinian twins made it worth it going to Venice despite the platforming of Israel and Russia and corruption. Feeling lucky to have attended 'Bound with the Living: Gathering in Venice' by Hagar Ophir, a séance that received an entity that turned out to be 9-year-old twins who were recently killed in Gaza. At the centre of the room there was a Ouija board through which 7 amazing women communicated to the entity. The fact that @labiennale platformed such an incredible happening and put it in its main live programme, is something I respect but it does not make up for the inclusion of very questionable participants.
The curation for the main exhibition that was initiated by the late @madamekoyo was so good! Some of the highlights are included in this post. I'll be writing more on this and releasing some live performances I filmed along the way.
Congratulations to all involved in 'Bound with Living' @hajr_oph @aayshaaz @hanaumeda #junasuleiman @may_visaa #rimanajdi #emetezell
And thank you to everyone who made my birthday one to remember @natascha.c.petersen, Zoe at the best hang out in Venice, Bacaro Risorto and everyone who messaged 💜

‘Talitin’ Ritual as Resistance: Ahmed Umar’s Queer Reclamation by @artbyahmedumar performed live at the 60th @labiennale. Full film and article via link in my bio.
‘Talitin’ by the Sudanese-Norwegian artist Ahmed Umar presents a visual landscape where tradition and identity collide. The performance is a restaging of the Sudanese Bridal Dance, a ritual that used to be a public event that with the shift of Sudanese regimes adopting an Arab identity and so called "Islamic Renaissance", became strictly defined by rigid gender roles. Through this piece, Umar inhabits a space that was previously forbidden, turning a celebratory ceremony into a beautiful queer revolution.
Umar notes: "The bridal dance was only performed by brides, but it used to be a public event. The whole village would attend, young and old, people of all genders. The shift happened after the Sudanese regimes started adopting an Arab identity, enforcing the so-called “Islamic renaissance” and denouncing many of our historical Sudanese traditions, especially those related to spirituality and women’s bodies. The bridal dance became an easy target because it celebrates and proudly displays women’s bodies. My grandmother danced topless, and my costume is inspired by the one she made for my aunts. Now, almost no bride dances in my family and very few in middle Sudan (where I'm from and the dance originates). If they ever do, it is strictly for women, and no filming is allowed."
This performance gained international acclaim when it was presented at the 60th Venice Biennale titled ‘Foreigners Everywhere’, curated by @adrianopedrosa in 2024, and its release today coincides with the opening of the 61st edition in 2026, echoing the new Biennale theme of "In Minor Keys", a curatorial focus on the sacred, the quiet, and the marginalized narratives that operate beneath the surface of global discourse.

Save Peckham Pantry @pantrypeckham: A Lifeline for Southwark & Lewisham Residents and A Blueprint for Food Justice 🪐
Hi everyone, I’ve started a campaign in order to try and save a vital local community food service called Peckham Pantry that serves Southwark and Lewisham where I live. This service has saved me during my recovery time from ME/CFS and I’d like to ask for help with getting this petition to enough signatures to take this to Southwark Council in order to ask them to reverse the funding cuts being made, so that hundreds of others who already benefit from this service and others who will in the future can benefit from this too. Here’s the link to the petition where you can find out more about Peckham Pantry and the impact it has on the local community, which is also in my bio https://you.38degrees.org.uk/p/savepeckhampantry.
I’d like to say a big thank you to Edie and the team at @38degrees_uk who have been amazing at helping this cause. We have just surpassed 300 signatures but need around 1000 in order to get the council to take this seriously, so every signature counts and is much appreciated! Thank you 💜
One of the best live bands I’ve ever had the pleasure to film, here’s a moment from @compozers live at @thejazzcafe ft. @itsjoshuabaraka 💜 watch the full performance on Jazz Cafe’s YouTube channel, link in bio.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen and for such a good crew on the day @pablorojodop, @helloemile, @kudos.tim and @natascha.c.petersen.
Special thank you to @jacob__trip for producing this.

2025 was my first year being active since being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome 3 years ago, some amazing things happened this year including some dream come true moments like filming Jeff Mills with Tomorrow Comes The Harvest in London, Suzanne Ciani in Barcelona, Juan Atkins and Paranoid London at Block9, Channel One Sound System at Notting Hill Carnival and starting my own channel through which I’ll be releasing a lot of films in 2026.
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped through this life changing time, it feels amazing to be able to create again and I hope 2026 is full of health and creativity for us all with more peace and less extremism in all its forms in the new year. Happy new year, wishing everyone an amazing year despite everything! 🪐💜

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped through this life changing time, it feels amazing to be able to create again and I hope 2026 is full of health and creativity for us all with more peace and less extremism in all its forms in the new year. Happy new year, wishing everyone an amazing year despite everything! 🪐💜

@marinaherlop live at @novasfrequencias’ 13th edition is now available to watch in full over at pedroskuster.com/marina-herlop or via link in bio. This is one of the best performances I’ve filmed so far and I’ve written an article about it, which you can read via the same link:
Marina Herlop’s music and composition is where classical discipline fractures into digital glitch, transforming the human voice, which is usually used in music as a way to story tell or narrate, into a polyphonic instrument of vocal texture. By dissolving intelligible language into a self-invented syntax of phonemes, she assembles dense, rhythmic cycles that resonate with both ancestral echoes and futuristic precision. Her music—a meticulously engineered collision of piano, percussive vocal loops, and surgical electronic production—bypasses traditional narrative to speak through the physics of sound, functioning as a breathing score of frequency and form.
In this live performance at Brazil’s foremost experimental music festival, Novas Frequências, Herlop strips back the layers to perform a vivid demonstration of modern multi-instrumentalism in this special solo set at Rio’s @ladeiradasartes. The film documents the technical demand of her process, capturing the precision required to balance live piano transients with the rigorous, programmed talas of her recent compositions. It is a study in focused multi-instrumentalism, where Herlop manages every element of the arrangement—bridging acoustic resonance and synthesized percussion in real-time—to maintain the structural integrity of her work in a live environment.

A special thank you to @marinaherlop for being such an amazing artist and pleasure to collaborate with, the whole @novasfrequencias team, @chicodub, @natalialebeis and Galpäo Ladeira das Artes.

@indiodacuica & @amarerodrigo featuring Shirley live at @novasfrequencias, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Watch the full performance and read the article on this legendary one-off collaboration at pedroskuster.com/indio-da-cuica, link in bio.
Índio da Cuíca: The Maestro Who Turned Samba’s Cuíca into a Solo Voice live at Novas Frequências Festival
The cuíca stands as one of the most distinctive and defining instruments of Samba, its characteristic high-pitched sound weaving through the music’s intricate rhythms. At the pinnacle of this tradition is Índio da Cuíca, a master percussionist whose life and career are an embodiment of Rio de Janeiro’s musical heritage.
In this live performance at Brazil’s foremost experimental music festival, Novas Frequências and iconic and historical venue in Rio de Janeiro’s black history, Quilombo Cultural Urbano Casa do Nando, Índio performs his first ever improvised and collaborative set with master percussionist from Maré in the north of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Maré, where they play songs from Índio’s debut solo album titled ‘Malandro Cinco Estrelas’, improvised compositions, traditional Candomblé and Capoeira songs as well as an emotional appearance from his lifelong partner, Shirley, on keys—a dedication underscoring the deeply personal nature of the compositions in his debut album in this one-off collaboration.
You can listen to ‘Malandro 5 Estrelas’ via @indiodacuica and @qtvselo.
Special thank you to the whole Novas Frequências team, Casa Do Nando, Chico Dub and @natalialebeis.
