THE YESNESS: ASK FOR JANICE
Live today 12:00–14:00 on aajamusic.com

A few months back, I was grabbing lunch on Exmouth Market when I recognised a familiar face. I wandered over. “Hey Mike, what’s up?”

He was looking for Morito; I pointed him in the right direction. My head was spinning with references, but we just had a quick chat. I told him I was a fan, thanked him for the music, and let him get to his lunch.

Meeting Mike D was the nudge I needed for a Beastie Boys special. Some of the first records I ever bought were theirs, and for my 40th, my friends tracked down the Sounds of Science compilation for me.

I’ve kept this mix strictly to the vinyl I own —tracing the blueprints from the b-boy stance to the hardcore roots and everything in between.

Hope you enjoy.

I spoke to Mark and Russell at @rosielee.group about my journey into the design industry. Side projects, graduate hustles and the risk of choosing weird over safe.

It covers the transition from those early days to the work I do now.

He found beauty and warmth in the sublime strangeness of everyday England. RIP Martin Parr, the greatest British photographer we ever had 🕊️
