Today, we are gathered here at the Port of Elizabeth, New Jersey to protest the arrival of the ZIM Virginia ship which researchers have uncovered contain the shipment of weapons. The ship is arriving today, May 21, 2026.

We are calling on longshore workers of the International Longshoremen’s Association, port truckers, and all people of conscience to heed the call of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions to #DontMoveZim.

ZIM is the Zionist entity’s oldest and largest shipping company responsible not only for the genocide in Gaza but the continued aggression across the region.

Join us and the thousands of dockworkers across the globe who demand a people’s arms embargo. Until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea. 🇵🇸

Nakba Day is not only a remembrance of 1948, but of an ongoing ethnic cleansing carried out for 78 years. It lives in the memories of erased villages, in the keys still held by refugees, and in the grief of families separated by borders, prisons, and checkpoints.

This Nakba Day, we will not forget Tarek Bazrouk, a 21 year old Palestinian who has been imprisoned in the U.S. for over a year. His case reflects the broader pattern of political imprisonment in which opposing Zionism is punished and all forms of resistance against oppression is criminalized. Whether in the U.S. or Palestine, from Tarek Bazrouk to the Holy Land 5 to Marwan Barghouti to Mohamad Hamad, the same system holds prisoners behind walls meant to silence resistance and erase identity. We must continue to support and refuse to abandon prisoners anywhere in the world.

On Nakba Day, we remember not only what was lost, but the resilience of those who continue to survive, resist, and preserve their identity despite every attempt to erase them. Palestinians carry the same message: memory cannot be occupied, and a people cannot be erased as long as their story continues to be told.

On May 19th, JTS, a Columbia University affiliate through List College, will platform Isaac Herzog, the current president of the Zionist entity, as its keynote commencement speaker and a future honorary degree recipient. Isaac Herzog is a war criminal and a leading figure in the Zionist entity’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. Herzog oversees the indiscriminate bombardment, deliberate starvation, and state-sanctioned murder of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, the acceleration of new settlements and armed settler violence in East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, the rapid curtailing of the civil rights of Palestinian citizens of the Zionist entity, and bombing campaigns in Lebanon, Iran, Syria, and Yemen. It’s been 78 years since the Nakba, the catastrophe that expelled over 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland, destroyed 400+ villages, and began a continued campaign of dispossession, occupation, and violence against the Palestinian people. The Nakba was not a single event in history. It is the essence of the Zionist project, a settler-colonial enterprise rooted in displacement.

Resistance is the essence of the Palestinian people. It predates 1948, it survived every attempt to crush it, and it is winning. As Ghassan Kanafani said, “Imperialism has laid its body over the world — wherever you strike it, you damage it, and you serve the World Revolution.” We in Sudan know this struggle not as supporters, but as participants. The US as global hegemon, with the Zionist entity and the UAE as its instruments, continues to expand its imperialist aggression across the globe. Their interests are unified and so are ours. Those who resist imperialism share a common struggle, a common enemy, and a common horizon of liberation.
