“L’ingresso nel Labirinto” by Arnaldo Pomodoro.

Recently visited this incredible psychogeographical installation in Milan — a monumental work developed between 1995 and 2011. Spanning 170m², the labyrinth unfolds through archetypal forms and immersive spatial perception shifts.

Pomodoro’s visual language draws heavily from cuneiform script, though anyone sensing biomechanical echoes is right, the artist and Giger saw each others work although little documentation on this exchange exist.

This last 25th of April, for the liberation day of Italy, I decided to visit the psychogeographical area of FRIGOLANDIA. This fictitious republic, for which you can register as citizen and gain an actual passport, has been the headquarters for the last 20 years of the historical magazine Frigidaire. Since the 80s, and even earlier under the names of Cannibale and Il Male, Frigidaire spreads the avantgarde and militant art throughout the nation and beyond, having created the most iconic pieces of comic artworks in Italy.

Last February I escaped the European winter to wonder around South East Australia. I was lucky enough to play a bunch of gigs around the area with my project Systemet (in solo for the occasion), and especially to meet likeminded psychogeographical drone mongers as the Blue Mountains Void Observance League who organized an incredible night of noise and poetry in Katoomba, a radio show about my practices and finally, a magical hike in the mountains with Rober Frost, where we played together some musical enchatments for nature.. here is an extract, and more recording will eventually come out!

Mutonia & Mutoid Waste Company

This collective of artists and travellers arose in the 80s as a reaction to the capitalist politics of England, transforming London wastelands into artworks and squat housing.

During the years they travelled throughout Europe, from Berlin, collaborating with sound systems as Spiral Tribe shaping the 90s some would say, to Italy, where some of them settled here in Mutonia, near Santarcangelo di Romagna.

In the process they became the most influential group of teknoid visual artists, embracing the full aesthetic and way of life that still today pulses in all of the nomadic experimental expressionists, myself included.
