On Sunday, eighteen brand new DJs stepped into @themountwithout_events for their very first play and what unfolded can only be described as the most powerful day of my life.

To mentor a group of students and then witness all of them shining their talent and passion was profoundly moving. For the closing, tired but radiant, we placed a candle in the centre of the dancefloor, joined hands and danced together in a circle as the final DJ played. It was immense. We closed in prayer and felt deep awe of what had happened.

And then the alchemy continued. We transformed the venue and welcomed 150 people through the doors for Beltane Bloom. “It was a portal of pure joy, love and bliss. We all danced like crazy and immersed in laughter, community love, as well as deep moments of emotional processing and release.”

To close @josiecorke @ines_violet @osarasound @_kyle__rose_ led an epic singing circle where everyone weaved their voices together embodying powerful prayers, celebration and joy. And somewhere between the laughter and the tears, something in all of us bloomed.

On Sunday, eighteen brand new DJs stepped into @themountwithout_events for their very first play and what unfolded can only be described as the most powerful day of my life.

To mentor a group of students and then witness all of them shining their talent and passion was profoundly moving. For the closing, tired but radiant, we placed a candle in the centre of the dancefloor, joined hands and danced together in a circle as the final DJ played. It was immense. We closed in prayer and felt deep awe of what had happened.

And then the alchemy continued. We transformed the venue and welcomed 150 people through the doors for Beltane Bloom. “It was a portal of pure joy, love and bliss. We all danced like crazy and immersed in laughter, community love, as well as deep moments of emotional processing and release.”

To close @josiecorke @ines_violet @osarasound @_kyle__rose_ led an epic singing circle where everyone weaved their voices together embodying powerful prayers, celebration and joy. And somewhere between the laughter and the tears, something in all of us bloomed.

Minutes before the start I was ready to cancel my set at @envisionfestival

My DJ controller wasn’t working and the only workaround meant I couldn’t use my headphones for the set.

It felt impossible.

In that moment I decided to surrender and go ahead, taking a deep dive into the unknown.

And then this happened.

I titled the Ecstatic Dance ‘Surrender’ but little did I know it would lead me to my own medicine of surrender.

Dear friend and elder JJ has terminal cancer and may not be here physically for much longer.

I treated him to a spa evening as he loves saunas. It was the most beautiful evening.

My heart is full and my soul is singing.

JJ has been an invaluable guide and mentor to me and my journey at the most difficult moments of being a single father with two children.

It has been so beautiful to learn from him and to receive his wisdom, guidance and presence. As someone in his seventies, a mystic, poet and a man deeply connected to mystery and song, he embodies something so deep, precious and rare. Spending quality time together recently felt deeply meaningful. He really enjoyed it and I felt so grateful to share that time with him. Who knows how many more moments like that we will have.

I found myself telling him stories about my family in Cymru and the challenges I experienced growing up and the complexities that still currently exist within my family.

I realised that I see JJ as a kind of surrogate father. Sadly, I am not very connected to my own father. I only met him when I was in my mid twenties and I don’t know exactly where he lives. Even though there’s disconnect, I love and accept him.

To sit beside an elder, father, grandfather and share stories with one another felt profoundly moving. To open and listen to each other’s stories and wisdom is so beautiful.

It reminded me of how important it is that we make space for our elders, parents and grandparents, care for them and find ways to include them in our lives, communities, gatherings and celebrations.

As I write this, my Mum has just come out of hospital. I visit her with my children when I can, though not as often as I would like. My grandparents, both in their nineties, live with my Mum so we spend time with them when we visit.

A prayer of gratitude for our parents, grandparents, elders and the wise ones in our communities.

May they always remain an integral and important part of our society and communities, never forgotten and never left behind.

This last year has been the most challenging of my life. I give thanks that I’m still here and I have my friends, family, children and elders around me. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for those nearest and dearest to me who support me through thick and thin. Who are there for me when I’m in need, there to listen, who hold me to account and are there for me in my lowest moments. You know who you are🙏

I’ve been moving through a big threshold for the last 9 months and now entering a new chapter of my life. I’m feeling stronger, more resilient and more capable to continue following my path of being a fully present and integral father, a community leader, a visionary and being in service to something way bigger and way beyond myself and my comprehension🌀

My prayer is that I find a home for myself and my children. That I can continue bringing people together regularly, no matter what the occasion. Coming together, singing together, dancing together, praying and being in ceremony and rite relation with self and each other. Holding space for the grief, the challenges. Holding space for the joy and the celebration. Holding space for all of the emotions and experiences that we feel. Singing songs with our children, our elders and each other. Remembering why we’re here, coming together around the fire to feel the warmth and the strength of community and ceremony. Supporting ourselves and each other. Continuing to show up through all of the challenges and change that is happening in the world for humanity and planet Earth🌻
