Sound responding to memory, memory responding to light. Together, the process becomes a living archive shaped by the Southern Black experience.

Red Arrow is thrilled to present Dirt Road Baby, a solo exhibition by photographer LeXander Bryant. The opening reception will take place on November 1st, from 5-9 pm, and will remain on view through December 20th.

For me, the South is more than just a place; it’s a rhythm, a memory, a lineage, and a portal to a wider world. These dirt roads serve as both map and memory, shaping my path while grounding me in the spirit of home.

Through imagery, objects, and storytelling, this exhibition traces the moments that shape who we become.

At its core, Dirt Road Baby is about finding oneself in the landscape of the south, understanding cultural value beyond what the mainstream offers and channeling the energy of those who came before us.”

I’m looking for walls.

Not perfect ones. Real ones.

Buildings. Corners. Public spaces people actually move through.

For a long time I’ve used my studio to make smaller, more intimate pictures.

Now I’m opening it up.

For commissions. For larger works. Murals. Sculptures. Installations. Open space.

This film comes from the studio, shot by my brother LeXander Bryant @orgnzd.visuals but the work isn’t meant to go out into the city. Nashville. Tennessee. Atlanta. Birmingham. Durham. Norfolk. Seattle. DC.

I want to make some things that meet the people where they are.

If you’ve got a wall, a building, or a space that needs something real a sculpture, a mural, a ritual - the studio commissions are officially open.
