Oren Pinhassi’s first US institutional solo exhibition, 'Into Your Arm’s Length', is now open at The Arts Club of Chicago, curated by Janine Mileaf.
Pinhassi's anthropomorphic sculptures inhabit The Arts Club of Chicago in a configuration that activates the senses around desire and fragility. Moving through the space, the towering and sprawling figures – marked with bulbous protrusions and seductive orifices – mimic familiar objects, rendering visible how humankind builds the world in its own image.
Using sand, stone, and glass, each of Pinhassi's sculptures is tactually charged, pairing rough textures with suggestive poses and intimate details. The works in 'Into Your Arm's Length' emerge from what the artist calls an 'erotic logic': "The cavities in my work – windows, holes – simultaneously reference the most intimate cavities of the body and, as recognisable architectural elements, become landscapes for this public exchange."
On view through 8 August 2026.

Oren Pinhassi’s ‘Gather Round’ (2024) anchors our Art Basel Miami presentation.
Built primarily from burlap and sand, permeable materials that maintain an aesthetic of historicity, ‘Gather Round’ balances between stability and a fall, with their feet in a curled grip over the edges of boulders serving as bases.
As Pinhassi has noted in relation to his sculptures: “Sand or dirt, reminds us of our fragility and temporality of our bodies. As it is the dirt we will return to, at the same time, it is the mythic material from which we are told to be created, so there is in sand a creativity too, a possibility to shape, shift form and animate matter. It is a material holding together beautifully so many of our stories of life and death that we often experience as contradictions.”
This presentation of Oren Pinhassi precedes a solo exhibition of his work at the @artsclubchicago (31 March – 8 August 2026).
On view in Booth D30 at Art Basel Miami Beach from 3 – 7 December 2025.

Looking back at some earlier work. This is Drip Dry Eyes 2016, concrete, glass, steel, pigment, bath towel
Around 2014 I was starting to develop a poetic construction logic I called ‘Erotic Construction’ in which like the dissolution of boundaries between two bodies, self and other in an erotic encounter, the making of these installations was guided by porousness and shapeshifting - the categories of nature, architecture, body and furniture shape each other and morph into one another in a process of co-creation. Among other things I was looking back at gothic architecture and the way that vegetal logics of splittings and arching was used as an engineering framework and not only as ornamental design. There’s a sentence I like from a book by Lars Spuybroek called “The Sympathy Of Things: ruskin and the ecology of design” that goes something like - “sympathy is the way things feel when they constantly shape each other”

Oren Pinhassi presents ‘Public Figure’ (2024), a sculpture that merges human, vegetal, and architectural forms to explore the body’s porous relationship with its environment.
Pinhassi’s work creates evocative, often erotic spaces at the threshold between the public and private, using plaster and sand for their organic, fluid textures. His speculative environments challenge rigid structures, foregrounding vulnerability and imagining queer spaces where transformation and transgression are not only possible but essential.
This presentation precedes Pinhassi’s solo exhibition at the @artsclubchicago in March 2026.
See ‘Public Figure’ at Booth D17 in Frieze London.
