This emcee brings a mix of good vibes and chaotic vibes to any stage he graces, whether as an opening act or a grand finale. Yamilla M. Tate (she/they) is a Buffalo-based Blackorrican writer, poet, diarist, and spoken word artist. Tate’s work focuses on heritage, LGBTQIA+ pride, feminist themes, and the human experience. Her work has been featured by organizations such as Just Buffalo Writing Center and the Albright-Knox Gallery. In previous years, she’s represented Buffalo as a part of the Pure Ink Slam Team while taking part of The Southern Fried Poetry Slam and is honored to be performing alongside this year’s team.

Fredhead, is a DJ and producer, whose worked with emcees across Western NY, with notable mixes with Operation Infinity emcees like Urth, Jezeb, abd A Rose in Buffalo. He plans to rock the decks this evening, and raise these beats like an open fire.

The Galactic Griot is a multidisciplinary artist whose mastery from filmmaking to spoken word poetry have propelled her into the world of Slam! Winner of the Pure Ink Poetry March 2026 Poetry Slam, the final poetry slam of our regular season, this stellar Brooklyn native, qualified for a spot on the team!

Shannon Hoffman is a badass Mama bear, and emotionally evoking poet. Shannon won her first two poetry slams ever in this recent poetry slam season, and placed in nearly all of them to be in the second place spot of top ranking poets to qualify for Pure Ink's team. Shannon also previously joined Ashley M. Hardy, Joshua H., and J.B. to take second place in the Empire State Slam this past October.

Joshua H, is an emerging poet who has been competing and attending Pure Ink Poetry shows for the last several years. Along with joining Shannon Hoffman, Ashley M. Hardy, and J.B. Stone at the Empire State Slam this past October, and traveled with Pure Ink, last year at thecompetition at the SoFried Poetry Festival.

Brandon Williamson was born and raised in Buffalo NY. He has made it his life goal to reach out
to students in inner city neighborhoods similar to the one he grew up in, painting a path for them
to follow to their future. In this process, Brandon created the Pure Ink Poetry Slam.

The Galactic Griot is a multidisciplinary artist whose mastery from filmmaking to spoken word poetry have propelled her into the world of Slam! Winner of the Pure Ink Poetry March 2026 Poetry Slam, the final poetry slam of our regular season, this stellar Brooklyn native, qualified for a spot on the team!

Shannon Hoffman is a badass Mama bear, and emotionally evoking poet. Shannon won her first two poetry slams ever in this recent poetry slam season, and placed in nearly all of them to be in the second place spot of top ranking poets to qualify for Pure Ink's team. Shannon also previously joined Ashley M. Hardy, Joshua H., and J.B. to take second place in the Empire State Slam this past October.

OFFICIAL CHANGES TO Oi OPEN MIC + SACRED CYPHER:

1. Open Mic sets are now only 3 songs, 7 minutes max. If you go over I will cut you off. I want to allow as many people to go as possible. As these open mics grow and bring more people in, please be respectful of the space and other peoples time.
2. Sacred Cypher w/ fredhead (@_fredhead) WILL be starting at 10pm sharp from now on. Pull up to the open mic EARLY to ensure you get to take the stage.
