It took a decade for me to be able to do a shoot for @voguemagazine. I love it. It came as a surprise at the most unexpected time — in my hiatus as a fashion photographer and when I have already accepted the idea that I may need to move on and start a new journey (career).

Tito quiz. You are officially a tito if:

a. Motorcycle riders blasting through the city streets like they own the road (and the entire world) are one of your biggest pet peeves.

b. You tuck your shirt into chino shorts and confidently pair them with slip-on shoes. Easy.

c. When someone messages you with just your name, leaving you hanging and wondering what they want. It triggers your boiling point. Like, come on! Be straightforward and get to the point.

I read somewhere that reading in public has become a performative thing.

As long as I enjoy reading (and as long as I’m paying for my own coffee) I don’t think it is. Mind you, I’ve finished many books in those places. I’ve also learned the art of blocking out the noise around me and sinking fully into the stories in my hands.

Performative? Let them and let us read wherever we want.

Let our minds wander. Let our imaginations run wild. Let ourselves feel joy, sadness, thrill, fear. Let us laugh, cry, and be moved — whether in the quiet comfort of our private spaces or in the company of public ones.

The movie reminded me why I dared to throw myself into the fashion and creative industry — and stayed long enough to survive, and somehow thrive, for ten years.

I loved it (fashion and creative industry) in all its misery and glory: the politics, the meanness, the rejections, the rush, the fashion week, the models, the clothes, the photographs and the dream. The exhaustion of wanting to achieve something and create something beautiful. I loved it. I missed it.

For a small-town boy who once arrived in the big fashion cities full of passion and dream, I am fulfilled. (Just like the movie) it turned out to be a happy ending after all.
