I felt for a few years that this was a place that I needed to visit..
I didn’t know why, where exactly or what I would experience.
When I learned that this city had a special connection to Africa, it felt like it was meant to be.
And I decided that I wouldn’t let having to go alone stop me. So.. I went 🫣
5 weeks in the most musical city in the whole world. How I felt singing there..
I can be quite in my head. Getting-stuff-done mode is not that hard for me to get into. Getting out of it, that’s my challenge.
But here.. I felt só present here. As an artist, finding that flow state while performing, that is absolute góld. Winnaaa. Nothing like it, for real.
I’m grateful for these moments. Grateful for Salvador, too.

Spirit of The Amazon 🪭
————————————
My man,
Become strong
The sadness is over
Purify your mind
Remove all the wounds
from your heart
Make it new again
My man,
Don’t forget
who held you
Walk on your own path
The water will show you
I am on your side
Swim far away
Break free.

One thing I loved about Brazil, was actually something that I distanced myself from 2 years ago.
It was very intentional actually. I thought I’d seen the truth about what to remove from my life, bc it was something that carries darkness. So I stopped associating with & practicing it fully.
I’m talking about getting rid of the cards, the crystals, yoga classes, symbols and anything that connected to spirituality. I’m even talking about starting to read the bible again & considering going back to church.
Now I know how radical this sounds, but I’m quite a all or nothing kind of person, so this isn’t too far outta character for me lol. I love analyzing any and everything, including myself, so I was just trying to do what I truly thought was best & apply that in the way I know how.
Even before Brazil, I got a lot of insights into the path I need to be walking on.. ánd why. I realized that literally éverything has got polarity. Whether that’s religion or spirituality, everything has darkness, but there’s light in there as well.
All I know is both ways are created to find connection to the Most High. The best way I know how, is to not give so much power to props like stones or books like the bible. It can be helpful, surely, but the creation is not the Creator — u get me? Connection is best made directly, first.
So anyway, Brazil. I learned about Candomblé, deepened my connection to water, to spiritual rhythms… to Axé 🪭
It was very grounding & I’ve learned a lot from it. Mostly, that true spirituality helps you see what the light in something is — and letting that help you in finding the way.

I crieddddd the first time I heard samba music a few years back..
Not bc I was sad, it was actually like experiencing a release & remembering that life is gooood to us. I didn’t understand a word they said, knew nothing of the history, but I did decide I’d háve to visit Brazil 🇧🇷
I started to get really inspired by Brazilian & Portuguese speaking artists and knew I had to find a way to bring this energy into my own music. So last November, I went to Salvador for 5 weeks, starting the journey off completely by myself.
Godddd, it makes me so intensely happy looking at these video’s. I’ve learned so much about the samba rhythms, the spirituality that’s connected to it and how the music actually also connects to my own roots…. 🇸🇷
Most things in life are felt before they make sense. This was one of them things.
Creating from this place, what a blessing man.
