I had the absolute honor of adorning an upcycled garment by @chonabacaoco as part of her collection “Weightless”, showcased prior to @collidescopefoundation x @chilli.app New York Fashion Week event, The Green Edit.
This collection is crafted from discarded fabrics from the pandemic, all collected from Milan, Italy, where Chona is based. They were blended with ethically-sourced hablon — a mixture of banana and pineapple fiber — from her hometown, Iloilo, in the Philippines.
Designed to lift the weight off your shoulders, “Weightless” promotes the importance of mindful consumption and invites wearers to embrace the lightness of being, reminding us that mental health, too, is about creating a space for letting go of what no longer serves us.
It was such a joy to discuss sustainability in the fashion industry & to collaborate with a designer who is so deeply passionate about intentional wear and production!
