it is #worldlupusday and I’m reflecting on all the times people made me feel like this little thing called travel would be a pipe dream.
But truthfully, how do you know that something isn’t meant for you unless you try? I refuse to live my life afraid of living beyond this little box called everyday life.
There’s so much awaiting us beyond our comfort zone but we’ll never know unless we take a leap.
PSA this doesn’t mean be irresponsible. Please take your meds and pay your bills while living those travel dreams k thanks. 💜💜

There are huge changes in 2026 for US national parks. The number of free days have reduced, as well as who it is available to. This is the updated list for 2026, so be sure to share it so no one is using outdated information.
In the meantime, here are some things to know for national park adventure planning.
1. Free entry days for the national Park service are now only available to US citizens.
2. 5 days have been removed from the previous list of free entry days so they are not on this up to date list. (that included days like MLK, the first day of national parks week, and Juneteenth)
3. There are still other ways to access free entry to national parks and that includes free veteran access, one year free national park pass for fourth graders, active-duty military, and people with disabilities.
4. Not every park charges a fee. There are still free national parks like great Smoky Mountains national Park.
it would be great to have as many free days for people to explore our national parks as we previously did, but these are the facts 😒.
If you are planning on accessing the parks on any of these free days, know that it gets a lot more crowded so it is better to come early and come with a game plan.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Sargassum is here and it might affect your vacation plans.
This brown seaweed that fills the coastlines in large piles is not necessarily what someone might expect when they arrive to their beach vacation. So here’s how to save your trip:
1️⃣ know the sargassum season
The season runs from about March until October but peak season is during the summer. I see it a lot in June and July. For your vacation, see if you can plan outside of the peak months for less sargassum.
2️⃣know affected locations
Sargassum most often affects parts of the Caribbean (especially northern, like Puerto Rico), South Florida, and Mexico’s Riviera Maya/Quintana Roo. If you can’t avoid timing, try other beach locations like on the US southern west coast or southern Caribbean. Some cities and countries have added more resources to take care of public beaches and help reduce the washed up sargassum.
3️⃣ choose right hotel
if you are going on a beach vacation and know sargassum will be waiting for you, stay at a beach resort that actually has a team who cleans up their portion of the beach. This will at least give you a good chunk of space to swim with less seaweed. You can call them directly and ask.
4️⃣ get on a boat!
A lot of sargassum comes in with the tide so if you want some good swimming opportunities, get out on a boat and go out to sea. You’ll enjoy clearer waters that way.
Use these Tips and it will definitely help with planning!
I can’t believe it’s already been 3 weeks.
I didn’t have a huge plan mapped out for this… Only that I needed to move more and any bit of movement was going to be better than what I was already doing.
But I’ve been able to see results without doing the most (which would be so detrimental for me, with lupus).
It makes me think of the times when wellness was more in the forefront of my life. Times like my experiences in Costa Rica, which kicked off my desire to see the world.
I think that’s how travel became a catalyst for wellness, for me. As someone who has traditionally been heavily, relied on, but not necessarily able to rely on others, entering a new country and re-centering my priorities released a sense of freedom within me.
Travel quite literally turned off my phone and unplugged my email (Wi-Fi wasn’t as easy to get at the time). It made me reflect within and immerse with the unfamiliar.
Yoga has always granted a serene stillness and I stopped doing it for a while because the deeper I explored the (westernized version) of the industry, the more I hated it. it’s commercialization, it’s hyper focus on aesthetics, and it’s gatekeeping. The truth of yoga being for all bodies has been muddied with self-absorption.
But now I am going back to the building blocks because there is so much benefit there especially for people with autoimmune disease. The stress and tension relief. The low impact strengthening. The stretching and mindfulness.
if you’ve had benefits with Yoga or low impact exercise for your health, please feel free to share! #travelforwellness #wellnesstravel
My JFK layover hack! ✈️ So many people are missing out on a lovely experience at the TWA hotel during their time in the airport, waiting for their next flight… Here at the details to know:
You can get to the TWA hotel through terminal 5 by accessing the elevator on the far side of baggage claim.
this takes you to TWA’s famous red tunnel, where you can access their sunken lounge, a number of bars, dining, free museum exhibits and activities, and even enter the restored cabin of the famous Connie aircraft for happy hour.
You can even reserve pool access (for a fee) too! But I was here to do as many free things as possible on my long layover.
Ultimately, I was able to call my best friend and meet up with her to explore and have lunch at Jean-Georges before having to catch my flight home 4 hours later.
The food was actually delicious, there is free Wi-Fi so plenty of people were just remote working, and it was overall a great time.
The caveat? You do have to leave security in order to get to it but honestly it’s not that big of a deal. Especially if you have TSA pre-check. I left with my carry-on bag and that did not interfere with me having a good time.
It’s something I would definitely do again if I had a layover that was four hours or more. I got back to JetBlue’s terminal 5 with plenty of time to spare and took the air train to my appropriate terminal (because I was flying with American).
10/10 would definitely recommend if you have a few hours to spare!

This is one of my favorite camping hacks for comfortable sleep. When my husband and I go camping we bring 2 XL twin size air mattresses to mimic a king size bed.
Except!
We don’t have to suffer from one person disturbing the other with the bounciness of the mattress.
These mattress are from INTEX which we just got from a Walmart near a park/campsite — it’s also one of the more affordable brands when looking for an air mattress
I also look for a felt top of some sort so that the mattress doesn’t feel too cold at night. Then, pad the mattresses with your sheet set and blankets for an extra comfortable feel. I prefer to do mattresses this way because without fail something may puncture your mattress at some point so I don’t like investing too much money into these. Our mattresses have lasted us many years and it’s been worth it.

Lupus and fitness are not always an easy match, and it’s extremely hard to explain that to other people.
Everyone has their high protein advice while my kidneys squirm. Their high impact training tips as my joints inflame. And their intense workouts and busy schedules as fatigue plagues me and i lack function without 10 hours of sleep.
But this hits different. Caretaking and losing my mom took the bits of good health i had and i’m determined to get it back.
a double blind study… or sleep or shut-eye or whatever.

🚨 Spirit Airlines just shut down and thousands of people are stranded. These are the airlines offering assistance to help get them home. (Limited time)
NOTE: if you are not affected by Spirit Airlines shutting down, most of these are not fares for the public and will require proof of your affected spirit flight/itinerary.
I am no stranger to an airline going bankrupt while I was trying to get home, and that left me stranded for 24 hours in England because I was a beginner traveler and didn’t know about the rescue fares airlines were offering.
By the time I found them, the cutoff had already passed and we had to pay full price. Luckily, we had a travel credit card which back then still covered insolvency, so were later reimbursed. but you shouldn’t rely on that now! Take advantage of these rescue fares/flight deals and your travel insurance.

F1 Miami Grand Prix is a survival mission 🥵 I was in a lovely suite courtesy of @magnifica.air and it was still a lot, albeit so much fun. so here’s the move if you’re going to @f1mia :
• Reroute the Uber/Lyft: They aren’t allowed to drop off at the stadium. Take the free shuttles instead (the Golden Glades one was super easy - lot 95, which drop you off at lot 15/16 and is a short walk to gate 3).
• The Heat is Real: It’s 90°+ degrees and you’re going to walk way more than 10k steps. I did like 15k and had a low impact day. Wear the sneakers or comfortable sandals and bring a portable fan.
• Free Water: Don’t keep buying expensive bottles; there are hydration stations everywhere to refill your bottle.
• The Essentials: Clear bag only, bring a portable charger, and if you have an Amex, bring it for the lounge access or freebies.
Go above the team village (inside the stadium) if you need shade and a place to actually sit and watch the TVs. Have fun, stay hydrated, and don’t pass out!
