Happy anniversary NPCA! 🎉After 107 years protecting parks, there’s one thing we know for certain:it truly is up to us to ensure that these places are here for generations to come – to make memories, learn about our history and enjoy our most iconic places. Together, we are made for this moment.

As we close out our #UnitedByParks road trip, remember, the end of a road trip is never really the end.
💬The thoughtfulness of reflecting
📷 The joy of reviewing photos and videos
📖 The stories you’ll carry with you for years to come.
And, we hope, the fire to protect the national parks you saw along the way. 🔥

Thanks for joining our #UnitedByParks road trip! 🛻

Erasing history and censoring science in our national parks violates the very ideals our country was built on and completely undermines the mission of the National Park Service.

What could our parks be in the next 250 years? That’s up to us all.

In honor of America’s 250th year, NPCA is commemorating everything that makes our national parks extraordinary — the landscapes, the wildlife and the stories that make us who we are. Stories like the one shared by NPCA’s Vice President of Communications, Amy Hagovsky, in our newest blog.

Amy grew up only 80 miles from Women’s Rights National Historical Park, but she never visited. “Standing there, I was struck by how easy it had been for me to overlook a place so pivotal to our history.”

With every plaque read and photo seen, Amy’s resolution to protect sites like this grew stronger. “Parks are a promise made to us generations before, and one we make to those who will come generations after us.”

And right now, we are the generation that needs to protect national parks.
❇️ Because they are beautiful.
❇️ Because they tell America’s story.
❇️ Because these are the places that make us.

Read Amy's story in our bio.

❓ How does the House FY27 funding bill affect national parks? Here is what's in the bill:

▪️ $2.9 billion for the operation of the National Park System, essentially flat funding.
▪️ $41 million (20%) cut to historic preservation.
▪️ $1.8 billion (20%) cut to the Environmental Protection Agency.
▪️ Policy provisions that weaken protections for our national parks and public lands, including stripping endangered species protections and undermining protections for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the watershed for Voyageurs National Park.

We commend the House for rejecting the most egregious cuts from the president's budget, but we still need Congressional champions to come together for our parks. Learn more in our bio link.

Is it possible to capture a national park in a single word?

Here’s my attempt for Joshua Tree National Park! I chose Joshua Tree because it was the first national park I ever visited, and its surreal landscape and rich history has always been inspiring to me.

This year, as America turns 250, the National Parks Conservation Association is inviting everyone to create their own PARKS artwork to capture our favorite places, and what we want for our parks over the next 250 years. This anniversary is a chance to celebrate America through our national parks and take meaningful action to protect them. And that’s exactly what NPCA’s United by Parks campaign is all about!

Fill the page and the letters with artwork that lifts up the parks you love, the stories they hold and the future you want for them. Any medium, any style, any story!
Download the template and submit yours here: npca.org/unitedbyparks

Get your artist cap on and create one now! And if you do, tag me! I’d love to see what you create :)

As I take in some of the most iconic views in the Southwest, I keep coming back to how much these places shaped me — I didn’t even realize it until I was standing in them.

It’s easy to see why the Grand Canyon is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It’s a must-see for millions of people every single year! But hotter temperatures are transforming the park’s ecosystems, heat rescues on the trails are increasing and the Colorado River that runs through it is running out of water — and at Saguaro National Park in Arizona, over 1.6 million giant saguaros make up the largest forest of its kind in the world. But extreme heat, invasive plants and the wildfires they spark in a landscape that never evolved to handle them are putting these iconic cacti at risk.

This is happening across our national parks. Glaciers are melting, species are disappearing and landscapes that took millions of years to form are changing faster than we ever imagined.

Our national parks belong to all of us. Once they’re gone, we don’t get them back.

Protect our parks today: npca.org/seeitwhileyoucan.
