Recently we were lucky enough to spend some time with our neighbors to the north in Connecticut. Don’t get us wrong. We love New York and in particular coastal New York. We spend our days, weeks, and years along the south shore of Long Island from Rockaway to Montauk and all points in between. When we say “the coast,” we’re referring to the ocean, and for a good bunch of us that means surfable beaches.

The Connecticut coast is something different altogether. It’s barely a trip but you’re transported to a place that feels instantly at ease. Points and coves dot the shoreline with calmer waters that can only be described as serene. And these quaint seaside towns have produced perhaps the best part of all, the coastal Connecticut people. So welcoming that one local spent half the day showing us around, sharing their favorite places and making us right at home.

Calm seas never made a great sailor, but it sure has created some nice people.
