Pops Mohamed, who passed away on 4 December 2025, was a pioneering multi-instrumentalist, composer and cultural custodian whose work preserved and reimagined indigenous African music for new generations. Known as the “Minister of Music,” he blended traditional African sounds with jazz and contemporary innovation, leaving a profound legacy on South African music.
