A man is dead after the car he was driving was hit by a Tri-Rail train on Wednesday in Oakland Park.
According to Tri-Rail, the crash happened at 10:12 a.m. as a train was heading southbound to the maintenance yard. It hit the car at Oakland Park Boulevard.

The Lady Lake Police Department in Florida rescued a puppy that had been left alone inside a car parked at a shopping center while temperatures exceeded 92 degrees. The animal showed signs of distress, crying and scratching at the windows.
After removing the puppy from the car, officers gave her water and placed her in an air conditioned patrol vehicle. Moments later, the owner was arrested for animal cruelty.

A mother says she's still waiting for answers after her daughter became the alleged victim in a sexual battery investigation inside a South Florida juvenile treatment facility.
The mother, who wanted to be identified only as Amanda, told NBC6 on Tuesday that she hasn’t been able to speak with her daughter since the incident at Pompano Youth Academy, leaving her feeling helpless and angry.
