After winning an Olivier Award for her knockout performance in Inter Alia, Rosamund Pike is on a hot streak. Ahead of her Broadway debut and new film Ladies First, the British actress discusses the approach to life – and art – that got her here.
“Judi Dench gave me a very good piece of advice a long time ago. She said, ‘When you finish a play, you must always go home.’ And she didn't mean physically. You can go out and have a wild, fun night. But you’ve got to mentally go home. You’ve got to come back to you, remember who you are. It’s a subtle thing, but it’s stood me in good stead.” She has a routine for achieving this. “I’ll always have a shower. There’s a thing that Jessica says at the beginning [of the play]: ‘I’m Jessica, Jessie, Jess.’ I do it in reverse – ‘I’m Rosamund, Rosie, Roz’ – then have a cup of tea. I’ll always have a cup of tea before I have a drink.”

Angela Hartnett’s criminally good cooking could only mean one thing… she was a Cool Chef….

Another week of shows done, one performed by my wonderful understudy @floradawson , and I am reflecting on the whirlwind of last Sunday’s @olivierawards . This was the night… a small gathering hosted by the @nationaltheatre at Number Sixteen… the ceremony.. the Albert Hall! … the hearing my name, which is a moment I can’t recall at all… and coming off stage to Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen: “Did you win?” “Of course she won, Ian, she’s holding the award!” (a grounding moment with two of the very greats), a moment of magic and sinking in with my wingman and woman at Prosper PR, Luke and Rosie, and then an impromptu regrouping at the Langham hotel, with this special crew… among others, Justin Martin, Suzie Miller, Max Ringham, Nick Pinchbeck, Jamie Glover, Jasper Talbot, Robie Uniacke, Erin LeCount, Cormac McAlinden, Grace Duggan, James Jacob and my agent of 30 years next year, Dallas Smith. The evening ended with Cormac and me drinking the perfect cup of tea. ❤️

The evening ended with Cormac and me drinking the perfect cup of tea. ❤️

Her best life, his worst nightmare 😬 Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike star in LADIES FIRST. May 22.
Chamber of Dreams! The Kensington Hotel welcomed me so beautifully… do they really have an in house embroiderer??! … to get ready for the Olivier Awards on Sunday. Champagne, flowers, fruit and utter sumptuousness….ready for judgement day! Or judgement hour…. ! The robe is my own. Dreamy, fringed @oliviavonhalle before the midnight fringed @burberry dress I wore to the awards 😍 @hotelkensington @townhousekensington @thedoylecollection . Thank you for the magic .

Oh what a night… I still can’t believe it. CONFUSING emotions… as an actor you don’t wish to be singled out… and yet the recognition and support from that huge packed Albert Hall was so overwhelmingly beautiful. I think the little girl in me remembered her dream of being an actress, of getting somehow to be part of the magic of theatre, and the woman in me (still shy on stage without the protection of a character) managed to stand steady and bring acceptance… finding words for an acceptance speech… whilst also feeling acceptance from this huge crowd…. Thank you @olivierawards ; Thank you @emiliomadrid for these moments captured
