This father holds her
like a fragile argument.
This mother captures her
Like proof that exhaustion can be holy
without admitting it.

One face is weathered.
One face is weather forming.

124 Fridays.
That’s not age.
That’s a stack of small sunsets
no one could return.

She already knows
something the adult forgot:

Time is not passing.
It’s accumulating.

Maui holiday report.

Early mornings,
soft light,
coffee still working.

Conditions:
Sunny with scattered laughs.
Warm water, warm hearts,
zero rush.

Small kine waves,
easy rolls,
plenty float time.
More smiles than wipeouts.

Trade winds gentle,
just enough to remind you
where you are.

Days spent paddling nowhere in particular.
Evenings heavy with sunsets
and tired feet.

Fun factor:
100%.
Stress level:
gone.

No schedule,
no hurry,
just one more swim,
one more look.

Maui doing what Maui does best.
Holding us still
long enough to remember.

the world is broken
and she smiled like she already knew.

the stars don’t care about us
and she shrugged
stars never have.

So we tried again.
No metaphors, no prophetic thunder,
just the small truth:

We love you,
in the way a match loves striking; explosive and bright
gone too quickly.

because we're here
and you’re here

Let the oceans do what they want.
Let the sun forget us like we forget
birthdays,
names,
stuff and things to do

All we have to give you
is this trembling little prose
patched with breath and bone:

for as long
