Thesis Spotlight: Leah Falk
Leah’s project focuses on the impact of Vitamin D on uterine fibroid-like behavior in a 3D laboratory model. Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growth in the uterus that make benign, yet painful tumors in females. Vitamin D inhibits fibroid development and evidence suggests Vitamin D deficiency is associated with an increased risk of uterine fibroids. Using her mentor’s, Ally, hydrogel-based uterine fibroid model, she aims to explore the therapeutic effects of Vitamin D3 on fibroid-associated outcomes. This work can lead to improved prevention and non-surgical treatments for uterine fibroids.
Leah presents on May 11, 11:40am-12:00pm in AJC 2132. We are so proud of her efforts in the Moore Lab!

Honored to share that I’ve been named a 2026 Ford Global Fellow with the Ford Foundation 🥳
This year’s #FordGlobalFellows cohort includes 32 leaders working to dismantle inequality from the ground up.
I’m excited to continue building work that challenges how we design biomedical systems—and who we center in that process.
There’s always #MooreToCome 🤭😘
