Next Friday at @workshop_bar_melbourne we invite 2 of Naarms finest 👊🏼
@djsweat___ After spending years immersed in the city’s warehouse and underground party scene as a dedicated punter, he eventually turned his attention to the other side of the booth. investing his time into learning the craft and building a deep collection of records before stepping out to play publicly.
Known for groovy house, trip hop, soul, and analog sounds, DJ Sweat brings a raw and unpredictable energy to every set. Returning for a rare vinyl-only session, expect deep grooves, left-field selections, and a dance floor journey built for true heads.
@verd_je Verde is an established DJ and event curator (@b420music). With a focus on versatility and musicality, his direction draws from a diverse musical background to explore groove and sound throughout his selections. Verde’s sound is currently best characterised by bass heavy, and percussive elements designed to excite and engage.
Get on down & dance 🕺🏼

Mitch @mitch.aiff
Born in Boorloo (Perth) and now rooted in Naarm (Melbourne), Mitch cuts his path through sound the way a good record does — unhurried, purposeful, and full of surprise. A regular presence at local parties and listening bars, he's built a reputation on a collection that refuses easy categorisation. His mixes tend to begin somewhere deep — dub's stretched-out frequencies, its patience, its space — before drifting through whatever territory the music demands. Afro rhythms, broken beats, modal improvisation, and the slow unravelling of jazz all find their place somewhere in the journey. It's less a genre exercise and more an act of listening out loud. Currently travelling through Japan, Mitch is tracing the cultural threads that have long shaped his musical sensibility — record hunting, absorbing the ritual of the listening bar, and finding new resonance in sounds he thought he already knew.
————————————————————————————
A few months after a surprise email, Mitch arrived in Saigon. He and his partner were moving to Japan, stopping over in Saigon, Bangkok, and KL along the way. After a great first night swapping stories about our music scenes over beers, I invited them to my new studio the next day.
The session was incredibly relaxed, and his mix perfectly captured the vibe of the space, effortlessly weaving through all sorts of genres with just the right energy. Mitch has just started his new journey in Japan, so keep an eye out for his sets there! (slowbirds)

I recently made my way from Perth to Japan, taking the delicious long way through three of Southeast Asia’s most iconic food capitals. It was a masterclass in local flavors, street culture, and some pretty wild adventures along the way
First, we spent our time trekking through the city—so much incredible street food and even more humidity. I managed to lose my phone and multiple cameras here, which was a hit, but the vibrant energy and rich, spiced flavors of the local food helped me out a lot.
Bangkok. We hit up a beer festival, hopped in tuk-tuks, and explored some great art galleries. Sumi was on a non-stop shopping mission while we balanced out the trip with everything from Michelin-grade dining to wandering the floating markets. On the music side, I jumped on Bangkok Community Radio for a leftfield session and capped the night off playing at my friend’s natural wine bar, Salon Kiku.
There’s nothing like a crisp Chang Cold Brew to cut through the heat while tucking into street-side Moo Ping (pork skewers).
Our last stop before Japan was Saigon. We linked up with friend Tato to dive deep into the local scene. From perfectly charred skewers to fresh river fish with heaps of aromatic herbs, the balance of flavors was spot on. After checking out Tato’s new pad and another successful shopping run for Sumi, we headed back to record a mix for his radio project, Mogra Radio.
Please pray so we dont run out of money 💴

It is my pleasure to invite these 3 to Workshop Bar this coming Friday! Kent, Shoma & Ryo.
— @kento_muraki —
Kent is a Japan born, Melbourne based DJ playing deep, groove led house with an experimental edge. His sets focus on flow, building a steady and immersive dancefloor energy.
— @shomanakano —
Shoma is a DJ rooted in deep house, weaving disco, tribal, and electric elements into warm, atmospheric sets.
Alongside DJing, he works across visual art and creative direction.
He is also a member of Horizon Club, a creative crew that has been active in Japan since 2020.
— @yamamoto_ry.o —
Ryo blends deep minimal, UK-influenced tech, and raw house textures.
His sets focus on groove and subtle progression, building a hypnotic flow rather than chasing peaks.

— @shomanakano —

We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation who are the
Traditional Owners of this land. We would also like to pay respect to the Elders past and present and to extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
