Mus Tournament!!!
📅 Thursday, April 23rd | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Student Center, West Lounge (W20-201)
For those unfamiliar, Mus is a classic card game with deep roots in Spanish culture — a cornerstone of social life in Spanish universities and a beloved tradition across the country. It is a game of pairs, strategy, bluffing, and coordination, and honestly one of the best excuses to spend an evening with good people.
A few things to know:
• All levels welcome — whether you are a Mus veteran or have never touched a card in your life, come as you are. We will get you up to speed!
• Play in pairs and put your strategic thinking and teamwork to the test.
• Cards, snacks, and a great atmosphere are all taken care of. You just need to show up.
It is the perfect mid-week break to step away from the books, recharge, and connect with the Spanish-speaking community here at MIT.
We hope to see you there — spread the word and bring a friend!

On January 27, Gastronomy & Beyond welcomes Chef Paco Morales for a conversation that explores gastronomy as a powerful intersection of history, territory, culture, and innovation.
At his restaurant Noor in Córdoba, Paco Morales has built a unique culinary project rooted in rigorous historical research. By studying the cuisine of Al-Andalus, he brings forgotten ingredients, techniques, and narratives into the present, translating centuries of knowledge into a contemporary gastronomic language. His work is not only about cooking, but about preserving cultural memory, understanding place, and questioning how the past can inform the future.
In this talk, we will reflect on gastronomy as a tool to connect people to their heritage, to revalue local ecosystems, and to shape new ways of thinking about food systems within our cities. From the kitchen to the archive, from the territory to the table, Paco Morales’ work offers a compelling example of how gastronomy can operate beyond the restaurant, becoming a form of research, storytelling, and cultural innovation.

✨In this very unique event we will explore the mixture of two concepts, art and black holes. How the simplicity of some drawings can inspire new ideas in black hole physics, and how the black holes have inspired the creation of some of these drawings. The canvases represent moments of the past two years life of Dr. Javier Viaña, researcher at the Kavli Institute of Astrophysics at MIT.The figures while abstract they embody the essence of daily little things.
From the series of Art After Dark, this event gathers the MIT community to socialize, celebrate science, and dance with the music while immersed in the art of “La Hiedra”.
