She spoke about how many non-indigenous organizations will display acts of reconciliation by asking us to do things like making dreamcatchers in a tipi. Which is not all that we are. We should be able to represent ourselves in ways that we chose, with a deeper meaning!

Meet our Interns!💫

Kenidy Crouter is a Cree/Métis hairstylist from Treaty 6, Alberta, growing up in Edmonton. Kenidy grew up always braiding and styling her sisters’ and friends’ hair, but her passion for hairstyling truly sparked when she first volunteered at Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week in 2022, now taking part in the VIFW Hair Internship working alongside Manager of Hair and Styling, Krystal Dumais!

Licensed since January 2025, Kenidy has expanded her skills into coloring and cutting, working with many Indigenous fashion designers and artists to bring their visions to life in photoshoots and performances. She’s showcased her talent across Turtle Island, including at the first ever New York Indigenous Fashion Week! 🌟
