Nice to see you! Dancing, acting, living in and with LA

Years ago, I got the chance to meet and interview Stan Lee at Comic-Con - one of the most amazing moments of my life. He was gracious, kind, funny, and just so *happy* to be with the fans and the community he helped create. RIP Stan, and thank you, so much, for changing our world for the better, and, just for one moment, making me feel like superhero.#stanlee

Right before the strikes began, I was lucky enough to book a session with @joannadegeneres to do my headshots! If anything, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have just further underscored my continued commitment to working in this profession — getting a chance to work with Joanna on these shots was a much-appreciated *jolt* for me. (She’s great and I highly recommend her and her awesome team—I was nervous to get them done again and they took fantastic care of me!)
.
Anyway, I am very pleased to share these with you and thanks to *my* teams at Robertson Taylor, @imperium7talentagency and Pop Art Management for their continued to support and guidance as we navigate these crazy days together.
.
Have a great week everyone!

Gaming is making billions. But the old model is cracking. That’s why this episode matters.
Record revenue. Mass layoffs.
AAA economics is under pressure.
AI is entering the creative pipeline.
At the same time, games are becoming more personal, more adaptive, and more alive.
NPCs will remember. Worlds will respond.
Communities will shape the experience.
But the biggest question is not whether AI will make games faster. What part of gaming will still require human taste?
In this episode of The Futurecaster Podcast, Mike Romo breaks down where gaming goes next and why the future of gaming is much bigger than play.

Well, @whitnut already posted a few shots, but here are some additional ones from our recent anniversary (20!) trip to Oahu and Kauai. It was a fantastic time with the best companion ever. Alooooha!

Again, I am lucky enough to recommend another friend’s book! Above, we have “Ecstasy” by Ivy Pochoda (@ladymissivy). A whirling dervish of a spin on Euripides’ play “The Bacchae,” this is the story of a well-to-do socialite, Lena, dragged to the opening of her family’s resort in Naxos, Greece by her overly ambitious son who is try to finish what his father started before his untimely death on the shore below. The hotel is built near a sacred site, resulting in protesters who pull Lena (andthe reader), into a frenzy of lust and violence.
Each time I opened up this slim volume (I loved the feel of it, it felt like I always had a secret with me), I felt less like I was reading…turning these pages felt more like inhabiting Lena and the other characters in the story — there was a seductive pull throughout the prose, sliding you from one chapter to another. The writing is atmospheric and mesmerizing: Ivy knows a thing or two about trance-induced states and their last g(r)asps. This is the inverse of a that sunny summer read — this is the long walk back from a beach rave, squinting at the rising sun, resigned to walking back to the room with a lone sandal and mysterious bruises…but smiling nonetheless. Definitely worth checking out!!

What a gift it is to happily recommend a friend’s book! “What Kind of Paradise” by Janelle Brown (@janellebrownie) is a brisk page-turner of a story, which involves 18-year old Jean realizes her world is far more than she imagined as she breaks from her mercurial father and the remote Montana cabin where he raised her to find herself in mid-90s San Francisco, on the precipice of the modern Internet.
For those of us who were there at that time (fun disclosure: “Janella” and I knew each other in those heady days (and nights) as we navigated new frontiers of tech and discovered other frontiers at far-flung warehouse parties in the SFRaves scene), her recollections of that unique and forever gone time are as poignant as they are compelling: our present WAS the future. Jean’s journey away from her father to modern society is emotional and thought-provoking, mirroring our generation’s own quiet skepticism of just how much we’ve gained by the wild, erratic embrace ofrelentless tech advances, from social media to AI, spewing forth from smartphones that may just be making us less so.
Find “What Kind of Paradise” (and her other books) at your local bookstore!
Next up: Ivy Pochoda’s “Ecstasy” which seems like the perfect followup, I gotta say! (She’s @ladymissivy—check her books out, too!)

Flew out of Burbank today. The clear space on the ground? That area is between the plumes of smoke from the two fires.
The detailed burn…I am not sure but it may be the Lidia Fire, or the Hurst Fire. #losangelesfires
So sorry for everyone impacted by these terrible fires. This a particularly cruel helplessness. #losangelesfires
Happy New Year!
