Dice - There was a micro theme to the things I picked up/was given on our recent trip to Paris/London.
2-7, Coup De Dé by @melanitro_ is a square dice book where the sides each presented one side of the die, but in order to “roll” the dice you flipped through it and stopped on a page randomly in order to get your throw.
8-11, More or Less by @elsa.werth is a pair of die in which one consists of the words “less” and “more” while the other consists of words like “consume”, “earn” “work”.
12-16, Photo Dice (Zen for Photography) by @anti_foto and published by @object_multiple is a boxed set of five die, each of which “contain core decisions about taking a photograph: the speed of the shutter, the size of the lens aperture, the sensitivity of the receiving surface, focusing distance and the orientation of the photographer.”
Each multiple is a super clever, inventive take on chance and responsibility.

@guy.guy.guy found this (jam) spoon at E. Dehillerin. We bought it as a souvenir of our trip to Paris.

Another wonderful book by @closkygram, published by @rroseeditions. It’s an A-Z book in which every image is repeated twice but each time it represents a different letter/word.
The last image is of Claude showing the book to me. @guy.guy.guy and I are in Paris and connected with Claude and @elsa.werth. Of course no meet up is complete without some trading of recent publications and multiples. Claude and Elsa are two of my very favourite artists.

Rudolf Stingel, Untitled, 1993 - a wall entirely covered in orange carpet.
“I was more interested in the monochromatic experience of the orange carpet…I was not looking for the traces that people would leave on the carpet. (However) when the carpet went on the wall… people all started writing on it, and I welcomed it.”

When traveling, one of the things we love to do is see as much public art as possible. We saw a lot during our trip but I think my favourite is Ian Davenport’s Poured Lines, installed in 2009 under a bridge on Southwark St. London (UK). It’s impressively large - 48 meters longx 3 meters high, made by hand applying thin stripes of fluid enamel (300 different colours) on steel panels which were then fired at 825 degrees in a special facility inDresden. No notes.
I was unable to take good pics, so here are some I found on the interweb. It’s still looking great. @iandavenportofficial

Ai Weiwei’s Forever Bicycles is a revelation. It was made in 2014 out of 1254 stainless steel bicycles and is presently located on the grounds of The Forks in Winnipeg. I saw a glimpse of it from a distance and was very drawn to it. My first impression was just how dematerialized it was. I thought my eyes were unable to focus, but it’s just the visual result of the bicycles being so closely spaced to one another. It’s a truly sensational sculpture.
The artwork is in the collection of the @natgallerycan and is on extended loan to @theforkswinnipeg who have installed it in this very dramatic setting. Congratulations to everyone involved. 10/10
There are numerous other iterations of this artwork in different cities across the world.
