We’re thrilled to announce Gonzalo Garcia as the new Artistic Director of Miami City Ballet, beginning August 2025!

Gonzalo brings over 25 years of global experience as a celebrated principal dancer, mentor, and artistic leader with two of the world’s most iconic companies— @sfballet and @nycballet. He has worked closely with many of today’s most influential choreographers, including @justin_peck, @alexeiratmansky, @wheeldony, @pattideldancer, and more.

“Miami is barreling into the future with unparalleled momentum. It’s a city simmering with creativity, diversity, and rich cultural exchange — I intend to channel that electricity into every fiber of Miami City Ballet.” — @gonzalogarcia79

Since joining the company in 1995 as Lighting Coordinator, John has played an integral role in shaping Miami City Ballet’s productions, operations, and culture, advancing to Director of Production, and ultimately serving as General Manager this past season. And that’s the 2025/26 Season, wrapped. ✨

This incredibly celebratory 40th Anniversary Season happened so fast.

We performed 64 times in 8 different venues.
We toured California and New York.
We danced 25 ballets by 17 choreographers, including 7 new works and 2 company premieres.

But more than the numbers, this season was about the moments.

The standing ovations. The first notes from the orchestra pit. The feeling in the theater right before the curtain rose. The artists, audiences, staff, supporters, students, and community who made every performance feel electric.

To our audiences and our followers: thank you for being here. Thank you for celebrating, supporting, and growing with us through this milestone year. You are part of what makes Miami City Ballet one of the most magical ballet companies in the world.
