That feeling when you have such a strong feeling for someone/thing but not enough words can express how you truly feel.

Recently participated in the @architizer #onephotochallenge and the juries have selected my work titled "Kites" to be in the Top 10 Commended Entries in 2022. Didn't manage to win but this just tells me that I have to work twice as hard to refine my photography. Hope to win next year! 💪 Thank you everyone who have been following my work. I'll work hard to send new perspectives to your eyes.

Kites

“Photograph taken at the plaza of Kanagawa Institute of Technology in Japan designed by Ishigami Junya.
The photograph is titled Kites as the square openings on the thin metal roof distorts when viewed from above.
At different seasons of the year, the metal roof expands and contracts according to the changing temperature.
Thus, different shadows are casted on the plaza space below.

I intently waited until a passerby walk by underneath the roof in order to give the audience a notion of the sense of human scale as well as the feeling of vastness through architecture.
The negative white space is used as a metaphorical reference to the sky and the openings to be the kites floating in the wind.
Through this expression, the photograph intends to evoke a feeling of isolation and to question our existence as mankind and the vastness of the space we inhibit.”

A children’s facility and observatory designed by Tadao Ando, sits quietly within the mountains of Himeji. The exposed concrete volumes with full-height openings frames the constantly changing landscape. Rising above the trees, the tower becomes a sort of landmark around the area, while transforming into an observatory for stargazing at night.

Fukui Prefectural Library designed by Fumihiko Maki is conceived as a “garden library” within the rural landscape of Fukui, surrounded by rice fields and distant mountains. The building’s low horizontal form and expansive glass facades draw the changing scenery deep into the interior, allowing light, landscape, and seasons to become part of the reading experience. Rather than dominating the site, the architecture sits quietly within the countryside.

Recently managed to visit the inside of the Tower of the Sun.
Couldn’t make it the first time because the reservation slots were full, so I made sure to come back and make time for it this round.
Honestly the inside feels like another world. Totally different from what you would expect just looking at the exterior. Still feels quite surreal thinking about it.Built for Expo ‘70 by Tarō Okamoto in the 70s, but it still feels so refreshing even in 2026.

I missed the bus so I had to take a cab. Luckily there is still uber in the countryside. Travelling in the countryside is difficult without a car…

Recently visited KYOTOGRAPHIE, one of Kyoto’s largest photography festivals.
What makes it special isn’t just the exhibitions, but the spaces themselves where many of these venues aren’t usually open to the public.

The juxtaposition of contemporary art within traditional Japanese architecture creates a quiet, almost ephemeral atmosphere.
It feels less like viewing art, and more like immersing in it.

List of galleries I visited:
• Yuhisai Koudoukan
• SHIMADAI Gallery Kyoto
• The Museum of Kyoto – Annex
• Kurochiku Hachiku-an (Former Kawasaki Family House)
• Kondaya Genbei – Takein no Ma
• Asphodel

KYOTOGRAPHIE

• Asphodel

Built at the peak of Yashima, the architecture unfolds less like a building and more like a fluid landscape.

A 200m-long, continuously curving corridor traces the terrain. With the glass facade blurring the boundaries between interior and the landscape. The architecture doesn’t sit on the mountain; it flows with it, translating topography into spatial experience.
Walls, floors, and roof bend in varying curves, creating a seamless, almost geological continuity. Even the structure pushes precision to its limits, with steel beams calibrated to support these complex curves.
The space holds galleries and also vantage points where movement, landscape, and architecture are intertwined. A quiet reminder that the most compelling forms don’t dominate nature, but rather integrate with it.

Had the opportunity to visit three chalets managed by NISADE × The Luxe Nomad.

Tsubasa and Corniche were designed by architect Riccardo Tossani together with Atsuko Itoda Tossani, co-founder and chief interior architect of the practice, while Meigetsu Aki Niseko was designed by Nomura Design.

What really captivated me was the level of thought embedded in the detailing across both the architecture and interiors. The joinery, along with the material palette, is carefully considered, allowing everything to resolve into a cohesive whole.

Tsubasa and Corniche each feature an outdoor onsen, where you can soak while overlooking the vast snowy landscape in winter.

Featured chalets are as follows:
① Tsubasa at Hanaridge

NISADE × The Luxe Nomad
