The group of students headed to Harrisburg with @teachpluspa to advocate for support to combat Pennsylvania's teacher shortage. Our students did not just stand by and watch policy changes happen. They played a critical role in the conversation. After meeting with various legislators, the group participated in a press conference, where 11th-grader Samia Bradley spoke alongside State Senator Hughes about the importance of investing in the next generation of teachers. No one turns the water back on while the pipe is still broken!

So why is the Board still running charter renewals through a system it has already said needs to be fixed? Project RiSE was created to repair the framework. It won't be ready until 2027-28. But the decisions keep being pushed through a broken system, and real families are on the other end of every single one.

Research shows that having just one Black male teacher can significantly increase a student's future aspirations. Khary Golden, a teacher at Mastery High School of Camden, lives with this reality daily. The @teachforamerica corps member went from a teacher pathway executive to a first-year educator, underscoring the importance of creating accessible pipelines for Black men to become great educators. At Mastery, we are grateful to work with organizations like TFA and educators like Mr. Golden to ensure our schools reflect the communities we continue to serve.
