Seems like an appropriate piece to celebrate May Day / International Worker's Day, and the hard won workplace safety it fought for. I first showed this collage with @praise.shadows.art a while back who, by the way, have a booth at the CONDUCTOR, Art Fair of the Global Majority this weekend at @powerhouse_arts. I'm hearing its an absolutely stellar fair, a must-see.
Hooray for art, and hooray for livable working conditions so you don't cut off your thumb.

A few years ago, @odd_tv and I made a spot for @hulusports where we animated a barrage of athletes. We filmed @brawley_c here (who is really good at basketball) on a stage at @fxwrxnyc (who are really good at filmmaking) and then did like a million frame-by-frame treatments to the footage. Here's a lil' bit that never made the cut.

It’s the TeamWRK ring.

When I started running a few years ago, I was running away from things: health issues; fear of getting old; stuff like that. Then my pal Ouigi @thebkcircus invited me to run with some folks one Saturday morning, introducing me to @teamwrk. Running got a little easier. At first, I thought it was just running alongside others that made things more manageable. But I came to realize that I was actually running WITH people, even if not stride-for-stride. I was welcomed into this group, but had to discover on my own that I was in community.
These days I’m no longer running away from things. Much better to run towards things. And with friends.

I worked with @digbyandiona to make these signet rings of our dope TeamWRK logo in a hefty solid silver, weighing about 1.5oz, with a bold 7/8” square face. They are for sale, $350. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO TeamWRK. Not looking to make money on my end, just looking to show some team pride and help contribute to this wonderful business that Coach Joe and Coach Jenn have built. “Conflict Resolution” to
The New York art world.

This weekend, “The Invisible Dog Goes For A Walk” opens up at Hashimoto Contemporary at 54 Ludlow street. This piece, entitled “Conflict Resolution” will be on display (and plugged in!) it features two fist shaking machines pointed directly at each other. It’s loud. Made this with the singular Phil Morgan years ago.

For the last 16 years, The Invisible Dog has built a large community of diverse and talented artists, and also an expansive collection of art. For the very first time, a selection of this collection will be shown to the public. Curated by Lucien Zayan and Risa Shoup,this exhibition features 40 artists.

Over thirty years,
I’ve carried one of these pads.

Fall day in Philly.
I ran until I got to
Twenty-six-point-two.

Running a marathon is weird: executed in solitude, but cannot be achieved alone.
Seeing my wife and son at the halfway point was metaphysical, and evidence of the unequivocal life force transmitted through a couple hard hugs.
As if that didn't make me the luckiest arab in belfast, I was met at mile 17 by the singular Ouigi Theodore. Sound up on the video. We should all be so lucky as to have a hype-friend like this, even just once in a lifetime. His brotherhood up-to-and-through this moment simply exceeds description.
And of course none of this happens without community. The camaraderie nurtured at @teamwrk is what true stewardship is about. It's an honor to be lifted, and humbling to participate in the collective act of lifting each other.
And I HAVE TO shout out my pal @laadybee245 for her brilliant words of inspiration the day before the race:
"You're going to do great. You know why? Because you're going to start. Then you're going to run. Then you're going to finish." My new mantra. That shit carried me through some very new and strange places after the 20 mile mark.

Ouigi Theodore has a gift for putting people together. Back when Mac Premo had a studio on Nevins Street, Ouigi at @thebkcircus made the intro: “I got this phone call—‘My name’s Steve, I know Ouigi, I do this thing…’” That call turned into years of collaboration and craft.

Mac’s first project with Stoked? Designing, building, and fabricating the STOKED Awards. As the years went on, it became about purpose: “How do I use my powers for good? Sometimes it’s not about doing everything—just do what the person is asking and do it with all your heart.” Each year, Mac would read about the honorees and hand-make awards with intention. “It was always a highlight of my year.”

Real-world, tangible art to honor real impact—born from a BK connection, skate DNA, and a community that believes in showing up.
