幸运锅LuckyPot
#AsianArtGroup ✨Non-profit✨
We are making and sharing at the ‘RESTAURANT’ 🥡

LuckyPot comes from the common name for Chinese takeaway and hotpot restaurants in English-speaking regions. In East Asian cultures, sharing food means communication and intimacy. Chinese takeaway, as a fusion food, couples the cross-cultural identities of the creative individuals who live here temporarily. LuckyPot is a mobile and decentralised art group dedicated to on-site creation and practice in a cross-cultural context.
The pot art spaces are initiated and run by members of the group, aim to provide a co-living space for creating, residency, art events; an active community for Asian , Chinese artists in London. Now includes the South London space LuckyPot 34, and the East London space LuckyPot 196.At the restaurant, we make and share, everyone is the producer. Together we hope to build an LGBTQ, genders, races, disability and neurodiversity friendly, non-discriminatory and non-violent safe space.

📃A letter from potfriend of the 196 space…
“The LuckyPot art group was first formed in South London at Luckypot34. After six months of activities a series of life changes of the members of LuckyPot 34, LuckyPot 196 was born. 34 and 196 are like file numbers that signify two branches of the LuckyPot community. I believe that as time goes by and as the members grow up, more files number will appear and more branches will be established from now on. These numbers are spread out on the map of London and when we fold a map, these two spaces touch each other on the paper. As the different branches of the LuckyPot community grow in different spaces, our Folded Map is formed.
“LuckyPot 196 is a home, as well as a "bomb shelter", a party room, and a creative room to write blogs for their friends and other Pot members. In this space, We hold community exhibitions, events, and workshops, and spend a lot of time eating and drinking together. More importantly, we do things together that one person can't manage.
“196 is the door number of our space. The number represents the position of the space in this 3D world. Physically, LuckyPot 196’s position is near the central area of London, surrounded by neighbors and facilities that make us easy to connect with. As for the position of the group members and friends, we'd describe ourselves as "marginals": queers, neurodivergents, subcultural communities, out-of-system creators, and non-western artists who survive in a Western country… All of us are wanderers in the mainstream environment. But, is anyone not a wanderer in this world? Even in the so-called "mainstream" environment, there will certainly be moments when a person wants to pull away. There will be monsters who temporarily run away, and to run away is the last thing that one can do to get one’s freedom.”

Restaurant is where we come together for a short time to share and make food. At the Restaurant Lobby, all of our public spaces are open to residents free of charge for workshops, exhibitions, talks, performances, writings, screenings and any other event, or just for making a real lunch. We would assist and provide printmaking, projection, sound, lighting and any equipment and materials needed as possible as we can to support the events. The space is also open to non-residents. DM @luckypotart for the detail of space rental.
🫕Back Kitchen: Where we produce
The Back Kitchen is our studio and living space for life and production. We have 5-6 separate rooms for living and working in the space. In addition to the regular residents, we are also open for short term rentals and home sharing from time to time, to provide an economical space for young creators and cultural workers based in London to work and rest.
🫕Pot Bank: The practice about 'sharing'
At Kassel Documenta 15, the Lumbung group presented the concept of a ‘communal pot’ as a container for sharing money and non-monetary resources, such as skills, space, time, and energy, and we hope to follow this practice of sharing. In a POT BANK, our residency members would provide monthly funds or skill resources for communal use to operate and maintain the space.
🫕The Takeaway: Taking some things from the restaurant
We do not leave here empty-handed, but with the intention of bringing home the takeaway. We hope to be free from the monolithic art market dominated by academies and institutions, and to hold more public events for the general public, inviting creators and participants from non-trained backgrounds to explore and practice art activities together. TAKEAWAY is also a way to ask ourselves, as individual members of the group, what do we leave behind and what do we take with us when we leave here?

As part of the event, the host @zhaozhaojianze_zhao will share her journey of managing neurodiverse behaviors through creativity. She’ll explain how she navigates typical societal challenges, and how she practices self-care in her daily life and artwork.
“Not normal” or “Werido”— a word that every neurodiverse person has likely heard while navigating society, often reinforced by labels and judgments. But what is “normal,” really? It’s just a set of rules defined by those in power. “Werido” is the label for those who can’t conform, dismissing individual differences and driving out those who don’t fit.
Whether in the East or West, beyond official diagnoses and self-awareness, we need to question the environment that marginalizes us and refuse to accept it.
That’s why we are calling on all who reject being labeled “werido” or “not normal” to come together, create our own “normal,” and share the energy of self-building.
💗💗 Special thanks to our #potfriends @asian_catfish and @vonialin for making this event happen

NEW BABY! BODY CARE GRAFTING Workshop by Pot member @zhaozhaojianze_zhao 👚🌂🧦🧤
🏠28 Sep 2024, 2:00-4:00 PM
White City Warehouse, London W12 7RH
💬 English, Mandarin Chinese
🎫 £5 per ticket
🔗 Booking @outlandpublishingfair
@zhaozhaojianze_zhao : As a flaneur and creator, I frequently collect unused items from the streets in London, which always show another side of society in a negative shape. Among all the clothes seen on the street, baby clothes tend to be thrown away in the most concentrated and large quantities by people in one go. This phenomenon could be due to the fact that baby clothes represent a stage of life for newborns that is no longer reciprocated at all.
Perhaps the newborn is not limited to a growing child in the physical sense, but rather, the individual renewal that occurs when each person is confronted with a new environment is regarded as a new birth.
If the baby clothes that have been discarded once and for all are grafted onto us and into our living environment, can we also reaffirm the courage and strength of our new life?

🌞Detailed introduction to the outdoor workshop festival: Movement, Summer, in the Park! @yard_yard_space
The second workshop is here!
✒Non-verbal poetry
18:45 - 19:25 #unspokenresonation
Julia @starsineye invites you to bring an object that naturally produces sound through everyday body movements: a string of wearable bells, a jacket that creates a rustling sound, or even tap shoes! You can also use the mobile app from the first workshop, or any homemade "instrument" or simply use your body as a natural resonating chamber. Together, we will familiarize ourselves with the environmentof Finsbury Park and create a walking score based on the park's terrain!
