Huge thanks to @thiswastheremix for featuring our remix of JX -Son Of A Gun recently. We were there when the first Red Jerry mix dropped in Trade for the very first time and we all knew what a monster track this was going to be. We’d just signed with London Music so I got straight on the phone to the guys at London Records (who’d just licensed this from Hooj) to see if we could do a remix. A week later the floppy disks were being taxied over to Allder Towers. The only problems were a) we had a deadline to finish our remix for Motiv8 - Rockin For Myself and b) the floppy disks really only contained the vocal samples. We were forced to choose between the two remixes as there was no way we could make both deadlines, so we chose JX and the Motiv8 one never got finished. Andy cheekily sampled our Son Of A Gun promo 12” that we’d acquired from Jerry at Hooj in order to lift the massive JX riff and we built the track from scratch. Most of the other sounds were samples. It’s an honor that this remix is so well received after all these years, after all there must be at least 20 other remixes. It was also really exciting to be on a release with Visnadi, one of our influences from Italy at the time, and his Alex Party and CYB remixes are 🔥and also well worth a mention. Fun Fact: London tried poaching the singer we were working with at the time to front this video.

Finally, after 30 years our track 'Feel It' is getting re-released with the Francesco Del Garda edit included (shown here to devastating effect by the man himself). More details to come but should be out towards the end of the year in UK and Europe. Personal musical high point of the year for me was @jameszabiela including ‘Feel It’ (@baldo_bld Mix) on @djjohndigweed’s Transitions show. One of the best DJ mixes I’ve heard… and mixed in from the legend, William Orbit, no less.

RIP Switch

You lived a blessed life to a grand old age of 15, and got to experience the joy of living in some of the best countryside on Earth, and to roam the land freely at times.

It was pure kismet that you would arrive in my world, a dog called Switch,to a railroader who’d been a Switchman in the past. What are the chances?

I began looking after you whenever my friend Arwen wanted to go away, and after one visit over Xmas, 2021, I had vocalized to friends that I’d love you as my own dog. Not a month later that happened.Kismet again.

Rest easy little fella. You will be sorely missed by Ely, Evie and myself.

Begun to unpack my vinyl. What’s really crazy is that the moment I see a cover I know exactly what it is and memories come flooding back. So many great tracks and memories I’d forgotten until that moment.On the right is a test pressing of RDG, stamped ‘unplayed’

One of the most fun things I’ve gotten to do over the past few years is record a punk album with Peter Bradbury from Sky TV for Universal Production Music. The remit we set ourselves (with the help of one or two others) was loud, brash, energy fueled car chase music that was authentic punk but with synths on every track. Basically we got to be the 16 year old punk versions of ourselves for a few hours at a time …. but in a better studio than we were ever in back in the day. #punk #librarymusic
