May 3rd 12-4pm, Hillside Haven in Tujunga will be hosting a garden party exhibiting ceramics by Cathy Akers @ca_ceramics in and around a treehouse ADU designed by @ben_warwas

Food by @herba_ca
Music @ericlandmark
address 9725 Hillhaven Ave tujunga ca

Cathy Akers’ most recent body of figurative ceramic work moves fluidly between archival fact and imaginative fiction, constructing narratives that interrogate the utopian impulse and its gendered dynamics. Informed by a decade of research into 1960s-era communes through a feminist lens, Akers explores an imaginary society of horse-riding women who confront patriarchal power systems and claim space for their own liberation.

Ben Warwas and Byben
Byben looks to vernacular architecture and progressive contemporary architecture both equally for inspiration in order to create work that is relevant now and for years to come. Byben strives to produce built work that functions with ease while maintaining an enduring, awe-inspiring sophistication.
