I made this video a couple months ago when I was at the peak of heartbreak. @mandy_ani played this song and I became so obsessed with it I swear I played it for like a week straight. I thought about how it perfectly described what I felt at the time. I never felt comfortable enough to share it but after much reflection, I do now. I hope this resonates with someone 🫶🏿

They claim to support women, yet when it’s time to stand up for our rights and justice, they look away. This is our reality.

We created this piece as a reminder of the painful experiences women endure. The red tape over our mouths represents the silence often imposed on us, a symbol of the times we’ve been told to stay quiet, to not make waves.

Society pressures us in every way—from how we think, to how we look, to how we live our lives. Many go to great lengths to fit a mold, but who truly benefits from that? It’s exhausting. We deserve to be accepted just as we are.

The phrase ‘your body, our choice’ painfully underscores the struggles we face each day.

We are not just ‘someone’s wife, daughter, sister, or mother.’ We are individuals, and that alone should be enough to claim our rights.

This red tape represents countless women, past and present, who have been silenced. By taking it off, we declare that we will no longer be quiet. Despite the setbacks, we will keep tearing off that tape, reclaiming our voices and our power. We won’t be stopped.
