All our bowls and platters at New Bahru use pork jowl. A cut prized for its rich marbling, tender bite, and balanced ratio of meat and fat.
Batok’s 不见天 Char Siew uses an underarm cut, and both are prepared using the same roasting method, each suited to its own style and flavour profile.
When charred over fire, the pork jowl develops deep caramelisation and a light crisp around the edges, making it especially suited for a contemporary take on rice bowls and sharing platters.

Our Pork Jowl ‘Gua Bao’ is part of an exclusive platter only at our New Bahru outlet.
Soft fluffy buns filled with our signature charred pork jowl char siew. Juicy, smoky, and deeply savoury with caramelised edges and rendered fat that melts into every bite. The duo platter also comes with crispy roasted pork, crackling crisp with a subtle charcoal accent, alongside house sauce to build and share at the table.

48-hour dry-aged Irish duck - tender and juicy beneath the crisp, glistening skin.
Slow-aged for deeper flavour and roasted for the perfect bite. Come by Laifaba at New Bahru when you’re craving something with a satisfying bite.

Check out this “GUA BAO” by Laifaba!
This uncle’s favourite roast meats with noodles is now available in central Singapore. Please grab the fireworks!
No better location (IMHO) than to be nestled in @newbahru Factory Block Dining Hall; which seems to be curating and attracting the artisanal, up and comings, and the cultish.
Sharing the same floor with Fico’s Pasta Pop-up, Kios-Minang (Nasi Padang), Kulon (Bakmie) and Orh Gao Pei Gao (Drinks and Taps), Laifaba looks set to win many more hearts and different palates with its modern take on roast meats.
Why I love Laifaba?? It’s absolutely delicious. Period.
Laifaba makes authenticity very accessible. Flavours are old school but formats are modern, every plate that comes out of kitchen does more than just feed.
Royce, the young boss and creative spark behind Laifaba, focuses on maximising flavour and tenderness. He takes away the fuss and puts an impressionable delicious in front of you. Ducks are aged, meats are wood-fired, rice, noodles, even chilli are not out of convenience and low costs.
Laifaba at New Bahru isn’t the second outlet. You must see it as Royce’s new front to try ideas to feed lifestyle, the modern, urbanists, and the creative. I am excited what other surprises Royce has for us!
Don’t worry, you still get the popular offers at Laifaba New Bahru. Check out my Pork Jowl and Crispy Pork Belly Noodles served in Zebra (brand) metal bowl (Thank you for Bowl #1 at LFB NB!) got hungry posting this…
Laifaba New Bahru opens to public on 12 May (Tues).
Please go and Fa… Ba! Highly recommended! #noneedmeepok @laifaba_newbahru
