A solo exhibition is never truly solo!
So many people have been part of this, and I would like to thank everyone for the professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm brought to every stage.
In order of appearance 😉:
@alex.kahl , for believing in my work from the very beginning.
@tjadebouma for the creativity in developing the layout.@toni_tonete for the live 3D design session.
@carmencitafilmlab for the XXXL scans :) @impressionartbarcelona, for producing prints within the always-challenging short deadlines.
@studio_aza , for the aluminum frames that perfectly match the finishes of the Mercedes 240.
@atelier_kostenko , for the love of wood and for crafting the frames like no one else.
@danielleboelling and @wepresent, for the kindness and for making this project possible
@sylvain_ouolaf for the installation.
@faces_galerie , for providing such a beautiful space.
And to all the people who patiently posed with their cars while I searched for the frame through the viewfinder🙃
I look forward to seeing you on Thursday to share the results of all this collective effort!

Coming to Marseille this week ❤️. On Thursday, we present “One Million KM” a solo exhibition by Franco-Italian photographer Myriam Meloni @la.meloni , where a vintage car becomes the lens through which to explore technology, inequality, and colonial legacies in Morocco.

Shot on film, this is a documentary project that all started with Meloni’s fascination with how and why a seemingly indestructible vintage car continues to play a vital role in rural Moroccan life.

Join us upstairs at our new home @faces_galerie ,📍 Faces – 232 rue d’Endoume, Marseille 7e

OPENING – February 19 • 6:30 PM / 10:00 PM

They say, that the damascena rose came from far away, traveling along ancient routes, from Syria all the way to Morocco.
They say, that you need to pick it early in the morning, as its scent is more vivid and stronger, and that later it fades in the heat over the course of the day.
The flower is fragile and must be handled with care. In Kelaat M’Gouna, the rose is celebrated not just for its beauty, but because it provides work for an entire community. Later it ends up in perfumes, creams, and tonics, but first there are hands that plant it, pick it, weigh it, and distill it.
Thanks to @geomagazin for giving it a long feature in the December Magazine.

EVENTI IN PROGRAMMA:

📍 INAUGURAZIONE MOSTRA
Venerdì 8 agosto – ore 19:00
Con la presenza di Myriam Meloni
Vecchia Farmacia, via Pilati 11, Cles (TN)

Hi, what are you looking for?
We’re looking for a woman’s house. It should be around here.
Let me see the photo... yes, I’ll take you there.
Hey, what happened to your wrists?
Nothing... I dislocated them playing football. I’m a goalkeeper. One day I’ll be an international footballer.
Ilham, kanmanna lik koulshi mzyan!

Photography as an excuse.
An excuse to connect. To come closer.
To share our desires, our fears. To look at others. To look at ourselves. From near and far.
What a privilege it was to be there.
Surrounded by so many beautiful women. Brave. Joyful. Self-aware. Ambicious.
Eager to learn and to share.
It has been a long journey. Full of comings and goings. Of questioning how and why we do what we do.
Starting today, April 24th, the 20th edition of @fotografia_europea opens its doors.
At Palazzo da Mosto and the University of Reggio Emilia, you’ll find fragments of this creative journey— a process I had the pleasure of imagining and shaping through a series of participatory photography workshops along the Swahili Coast.
A process I had the joy of sharing and building with artists@nelsaguambe @gertrude_faith and @halimagongo
Big thanks, to the @weworld.onlus team—on the ground and in Italy— for bringing me on board. And especially to @arieledimario and Daniela Riva, whose enthusiasm made the impossible possible!

Querida Buenos Aires, one month is not enough for a lot of things, but it’s also enough for many others. Thank you for reminding me that friendship is the most powerful. That resistance is done in many ways. That there’s nothing like your light in the summer…

We are excited to host “On Clear Days You See Europe”, the solo photography exhibition of Italian photographer Myriam Meloni ( @la.meloni ). Opening on Thursday July 11th at 7 PM, the exhibition will run until September 15th 2024 in the American Arts Center main gallery.

“By juxtaposing the narratives of young European women who have relocated
outward to settle in Morocco with those of young Sub-Saharan women embarking on the reverse journey, but find themselves stranded in Morocco en route to Europe, the exhibition aims to stimulate an open dialogue regarding migratory processes, and highlight how movement— whether desired, necessary, or imposed—remains a reflection of entrenched privileges rooted in colonial history and perpetuated by present-day policies.” Myriam Meloni

Artist Talk : 6 PM ( AAC Theater)
Exhibition Opening: 7 PM (AAC Main Gallery)

Exhibition Curation by Sonia Borsato.

The Exhibition is co-produced by the American Arts Center as part of ArtReach Incubation Program.
