10 years ago you changed my life. For the first 5 minutes you didn’t have a name, your mother and I couldn’t quite agree on something during the pregnancy.
But meeting you felt familiar, like you’ve been here before.
“He still needs a name.” Your mother said as the euphoria of meeting you settled.
“Sebastian.” I said almost unconsciously, like your name pushed its way out of my mouth.
You’ve always given the world no choice but to accept that you belong here, even in those first moments of life.
Hold onto that sense of belonging.
We grew up together, your mother and I were 19 at the time we had you. We were, and still are, learning life at the same time as you.
I tried to be a lot of things I wasn’t, because I thought that’s what you needed. But you proved me wrong, you’ve shown me all you need from me is to be the real me, because the real me loves you so much.
The real me is imperfect, and he does the best he knows how to. Sometimes the only things he knows is how much he loves you.
Please hold onto that love.
There are things about you that no one taught you, they are part of your nature.
You love learning. You can’t wait to tell me about your new discoveries the second I walk in the door. Some fear how big and unknown life is, but for you it’s exciting.
Hold onto that wonder.
You are giving. When you were 3 I watched you rock climb in the kids area, and you wouldn’t touch the top boulder until the kid next to you was about to too.
Hold onto that kindness (and don’t forget to point it inward).
You’re true to yourself. You don’t let people talk you out of liking something. Thank you for standing up for yourself even against your parents. Balance that truth with an open mind and humility, and the world will open itself up to you.
Hold onto your sense of self.
You’re older now, life only gets more complicated. Things become more challenging, but the rewards become greater too, it’s like leveling up in your games. More responsibilities, and more possibilities.
I will always be here to help guide you, just like when you teach me your games in Roblox :)
Happy 10th birthday Sebastian.
- Love, Dad

For our upcoming artist spotlight series we DO NOT care about follower count. In fact we are prioritizing introducing underrepresented art to our community.
This months categories we are looking to highlight:
MUSIC: An independent musician, no label, no distributor, someone completely doing it on their own.
PHOTO: An editorial photographer with a unique perspective on fashion/creative photography.

3 million impressions for Taylor Momsen x tmrw magazine
Beautiful work from @janaschuessler
Exclusive article - “Taylor Momsen: The Grinch’s 25 Year Anniversary, A Dual Identity, and the Continuity of Life” by Kuya Allen for Taylor’s Digital Cover
“Taylor Momsen exists in a space most people never have to reconcile. For some, she will always be Cindy Lou Who, frozen in time at the center of a holiday memory. For others, she is the voice at the front of The Pretty Reckless, all grit, volume, and conviction. The distance between those two images feels vast, almost impossible, which is why the question lingers. Are they separate lives or different chapters of the same one. Is one a character that never let go, while the other is the truest version of herself. Or do they both come from the same instinct, just expressed at different ages, under different circumstances.
That tension is what makes her story compelling. Not the contrast, but the overlap. The idea that identity is not something you discard, but something that evolves, even when the world wants to keep you fixed in a single frame.
In the conversation that follows, Taylor doesn’t dodge those questions. She sits with them. She talks about inevitability, choice, and what it means to honor where you came from without letting it define where you’re going.”
