Some weekends become memories… and some become milestones.

Performing at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival was already such an honor, but in the middle of my set, I looked to my left and sitting side stage… watching my performance… was Esperanza Spalding. I honestly couldn’t believe it. I was humbled, shocked, inspired — all at once.

What made the moment even more unforgettable was what happened after the show. Esperanza took my hand, embraced me with the warmest hug, and spoke life into me with words of encouragement I will never forget. We’ve met before, but her kindness, humility, beauty, and genuine spirit are just as extraordinary as her artistry.

Esperanza, thank you for SEEING me. Thank you for inspiring me beyond words and reminding me why we do this. I’ll carry this moment with me forever, and I look forward to the day we share a musical moment together. ❤️
