San Bernardino is a city in Southern California, the county seat of San Bernardino County, and a major hub in the Inland Empire region, located east of Los Angeles at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains. Rich in history, it was founded by Mormon settlers in 1852 and grew into a significant trade center, especially with the arrival of the railroad, and is known for its cultural diversity, Route 66 history, and as a gateway to mountain recreation areas like Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake.
