The one thing we all have in common - the fact that we're aging. It leaves many of us with unanswered questions about what the future will look like for ourselves, and our loved ones. Which is why in this week's episode of the (w)healthy podcast we are joined by Dr. Pieter Strauss, a physician who is actively involved in the clinical trials shaping what is next in Alzheimer's research.

There's record-breaking, and then there's record-SHATTERING! To mark a decade of Day of Giving, the community came together to more than double our previous best Day of Giving.
Together, we raised $2,533,955.17 to help advance Emergency Care right here at Kelowna General Hospital! That is jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, and almost unbelievable. To all of our donors, volunteers, corporate and community partners, media partners, staff, the Emergency team at KGH, and everyone else who contributed - our heartfelt gratitude for making the 10th annual Day of Giving truly unforgettable.
Of course, we would be remiss if we didn't give a special shoutout to Dr. Neil Long, who committed to shaving his head if we surpassed $1.5 million, and it's safe to say that blew that number out of the water! To see if he made good on his promise, and for more on the history and impact of Day of Giving, check out the full story at the link in our bio.
Despite growing pressures, every day the Emergency team at Kelowna General Hospital continues to care for their community. They are ready, skilled, and steady, with an unwavering commitment. This hardworking team is there for us when we need them most. Tomorrow on Day of Giving, it’s our turn to show up for them.
All donations made before midnight on Wednesday, May 13th will be matched up to $800,000. Visit the link in our bio to give where it matters most.

As Mental Health Week comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to recognize the incredible work happening across our community, made possible thanks to your generous support.
From music therapy in the McNair Unit at KGH, to Thrive Okanagan’s work bringing organizations together to strengthen community well-being, to the IHOT Mobile Clinic Van providing dignified care for vulnerable residents, your support is helping make mental health care more accessible and compassionate.
We’ve also seen our community come together through events like Parade with a Purpose and Rock the Foundation, helping expand Foundry services into West Kelowna, while conversations on our (w)healthy podcast have continued to highlight the importance of mental health and well-being. Long-term impact is also being created through the Payton & Dillon Budd Brain Health Medical Fund, an endowment supporting advancements in brain health for generations to come.
Thank you to everyone who continues to show up for mental health in our region.

We might be biased, but we truly hear it all the time! We have the very best volunteers! And today, during National Volunteer Week, we are reminded of how they show up every day to donate their time with big smiles, listening ears, and genuine care for their community. We couldn't do what we do without them and their presence spreads joy from the garden of JoeAnna's House to the halls of KGH.
To all of our volunteers, thank you!!
We've always known our team was passionate, but we didn't realize just how diverse those passions were! What's the secret passion you'd love to take full time?

It’s not often that we get the whole team together in one room, but once a year we gather to reflect on all of the incredible accomplishments and connections! And looking back it’s been an amazing year, we opened the Jim Pattison Centre, broke ground on the JoeAnna’s House expansion, brought Vinni home to KGH, and are nearing the completion of our $40 million ‘A New Era Campaign’.
But the biggest takeaway for our team? Is that we couldn’t have done it without the incredible community of donors that continues to drive our work. Thank you to each and every one of you, your giving truly changes everything.
