Finally made our way up to Harlem to visit The @studiomuseum this past weekend. I never got the chance to visit the museum before the reconstruction so experiencing it in all its new glory made the trip worthwhile.
Love how the collection, spread across multiple floors, made room to include young and emerging artists while honoring some of our veterans and ancestors. Honestly gasped seeing my first Toyin Ojih Odutola piece in person and there was a photo of the late Coretta Scott King by Diane Arbus that was so heavenly. I’m also making it my mission this week to search for old issues of their in-house magazine on eBay.
I’m looking forward to coming back up on one of those hot 80 degree days, when the neighborhood is so lively, stoop sessions are going, music is blasting, that the art shown throughout the galleries is reflected back in the streets.
