Karner Red - Borrelia karnerii

Tinnitus caused by a fictitious disease was "recreated" in a technical engineering software.
This release was prepared for Хурь, a joint event between @oixydoxydo and @tusapodduriu, held at the нпо мелодия club (Moscow) on October 31, 2025.

Karnerilliosis is a vector-borne infectious disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia karnerii, transmitted by the blood-sucking butterfly Calyptra Karneri (listed in the Red Book of endangered species of Russia). The infection, like its carrier, is endemic to mid-latitudes of the Ural and Cis-Ural regions. Borrelia karnerii is pathogenic only to humans.

The most specific symptom of the disease is unusual tinnitus. Patients describe it as tonal, with barely traceable rhythm and periodically occurring, abrupt and quite abnormal noises. The nature of this type of tinnitus is poorly studied, but experts believe that it is associated with the specificity of inflammatory processes.
